The **Technical Scrum Lead** is a role responsible for driving Agile practices and fostering partnership within technical teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. The position involves acting as both a servant leader and a technical enabler, ensuring the team adheres to Scrum principles while also guiding the team on technical matters to remove blockers and ensure smooth delivery. The Technical Scrum Lead will facilitate ceremonies, develop team dynamics, and ensure alignment with broader interpersonal goals, all while focusing on continuous improvement. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, Agile leadership, and the ability to work multi-functionally with customers and leadership. **Key Responsibilities** + Scrum Leadership and Facilitation: + Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring they are effective and outcomes-driven. + Act as a servant leader to the team, promoting Agile principles and fostering a culture of partnership, accountability, and continuous improvement. + Technical Enablement: + Partner with engineers to anticipate and resolve technical blockers, dependencies, or risks to ensure smooth sprint execution. + Guide the team in breaking down complex technical tasks into manageable backlog items and ensuring clarity of requirements. + Provide technical insights to ensure the team delivers scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions. + Backlog Management: + Collaborate with Product Owners (POs) to ensure the product backlog is well-defined, prioritized, and aligned with business objectives. + Ensure backlog items are ready for sprint planning with clear acceptance criteria and technical feasibility. + Customer Partnership: + Serve as the primary point of contact between the technical team and external customers, facilitating communication and alignment. + Work closely with Product Owners, technical leads, and leadership to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and work. + Team Development and Coaching: + Mentor team members on Agile standard processes, technical perfection, and effective teamwork. + Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation within the team. + Identify and address skill gaps, fostering a high-performing team environment. + Metrics and Reporting: + Track team performance metrics (e.g., velocity, cycle time) and use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement. + Provide regular progress updates to leadership and customers, highlighting accomplishments, risks, and mitigation plans. + Continuous Improvement: + Drive retrospectives and champion initiatives to improve team processes, communication, and delivery quality. + Stay informed about emerging Agile practices and tools to continuously enhance team effectiveness. **Required Skills & Qualifications** + Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience). + Experience: + 4-6 years of experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, DevOps, or technical project management), with at least 3 years of hands-on Scrum Master or Agile leadership experience. + Proven experience leading Agile teams in a technical capacity, preferably in a complex or fast-paced environment. + Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe. + Proven technical background with the ability to understand architecture, system design, APIs, and software development lifecycles (SDLC). + Excellent facilitation and coaching skills, with the ability to guide teams toward self-organization and high performance. + Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders. + Proficient in Agile project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, Confluence). + Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. **Desired Skills & Qualifications** + Master's degree in a related field is a plus. + Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or equivalent Agile certifications. + Certified SAFe Agilist (SA) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) is a plus. + Experience working in DevOps environments with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and modern software practices. + Knowledge of software development practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD). + Strong understanding of scaling Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS). + Familiarity with metrics-based Agile coaching, including tools like burndown charts, velocity tracking, and cumulative flow diagrams. **Key Competencies** + Leadership: Ability to inspire, guide, and motivate teams to achieve their goals. + Problem Solving: Strong ability to identify, analyze, and resolve team or technical challenges effectively. + Adaptability: Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments, adapting to changing priorities and needs. + Collaboration: Skilled at building trust and fostering a culture of open communication and partnership. + Critical Thinking: Ability to focus on the big picture while ensuring tactical execution. **Why Cisco Secure** We're global, we're adaptable, we're diverse, and our security portfolio is as extensive as it is groundbreaking. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows: .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota; 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%; 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
