Mission of the role: As the Technical Quote Lead, you are primarily responsible for the lead new business pursuits/quotes for Instrument Cluster and Zonal Controller product line and coordinate with all functions (Customer Regional Engineering, Hardware & Platform Software teams, Product Validation, Program & Commodity Purchasing and Manufacturing) and lead & coordinate associated internal engineering activities. You will have a clear understanding of why, what, and when of an assigned product and shall communicate its story and the business value concisely to all the stakeholders. Key Stakeholders: Product Line Leaders, Engineering/Functional Leaders, External Customers.
Key Objectives of the Role:
Lead Cross-Functional Quotation Engineering Serve as the technical lead for customer RFIs and quotations across Instrument Cluster and Zonal Controller product lines. Establish and guide a global, multi-functional engineering team to support pursuit activities and technical responses. Coordinate technical deliverables to align with quote timelines and ensure timely, high-quality submissions.2. Requirements Review & Compliance
Drive comprehensive review of mechanical, hardware, and software requirements. Ensure all assumptions and exceptions are documented; develop high-level compliance matrices. Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and delivery teams to define delivery timelines and execution plans.3. Design Optimization & Cost Strategy
Lead development of optimal, consistent designs with a focus on BOM cost efficiency. Identify and drive value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) and design reuse opportunities. Collaborate with Product Management and Commercial teams to define cost targets and leverage historical quote data for triangulation.4. Supplier & Manufacturing Alignment
Engage early with Purchasing and Manufacturing to align on make/buy strategies and supplier quote timelines. Review supplier quotes and benchmark against similar designs to ensure competitiveness. Partner with manufacturing teams to optimize assembly processes and cost structures.5. Documentation & Governance
Ensure timely completion of all quote documentation, including: Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) BOMs Engineering and manufacturing assumptions Effort and cost estimates Maintain process compliance throughout the quotation lifecycle.6. Customer Engagement & Demonstration Support
Support customer milestones and ensure alignment with technical requirements. Lead the development of pursuit-specific demo properties and support product demonstrations at tech shows and customer events.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electronics, Mechanical), Physics, or a related technical field; equivalent experience considered. Industry Experience: Minimum 10+ years in automotive electronics product development and launch, with strong preference for experience in Instrument Cluster and Zonal Controller domains. Project Leadership: Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of hardware, mechanical, and software design principles. High-level system analysis capabilities. Experience working closely with suppliers on part selection and cost negotiations. Commercial Awareness: Familiarity with financial metrics such as NPV, IRR, and EBIT is a plus. Customer Engagement: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with global cultural sensitivity. Strong presentation skills and ability to convey technical concepts to customers. Collaboration & Influence: Effective cross-functional collaboration with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and commercial teams. Self-motivated leader with the ability to guide global teams toward shared goals. Tools Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint).
