Life as a Thales Technical Project Manager:
Work Package Organisation and Planning:Author the Work Package Description with the WP team based on the project structure regarding the entity/Customer requirementsIdentify deliverables, milestones and interdependencies with other WP’sEstablish the schedule and the estimates based on a viable solution, and identify the necessary resources and their availabilityInitialise the risk and opportunity register and the work package baseline using the relevant key project toolsWhere applicable obtain commitments from suppliersWork Package Launch:Establish a network diagram and a detailed schedule which is aligned with the project master scheduleDefine the cost structure, resource profiles, supplier selection and the relevant metrics to monitor the WPWrite relevant plans within the WP scopeWork Package Execution:Achieve the objectives of the Work Package and take the necessary management actions to correct any deviation from the baseline or objectivesIdentifying and solving issues, managing the risks and opportunities and performing mitigation activitiesWork Package Monitoring and Control:Review document, specifications, schedule and estimate files using peers where necessaryMonitor & consolidate all deliverablesUpdate the schedule, risk & opportunities register, the ETC & EACConsolidate the work package dashboard and lead progress meetingsReport as per the PMP and escalate to the PM any variances or key issuesQuality of Deliverables: o The WPM is responsible for the quality of the delivered products, services and documentation within the project committed time and budget and in the scope of the work packageThe WPM ensures that all configuration items within the WP scope are managed (could be done by a configuration manager)Key Stakeholder Relations:Lead the team and/or suppliers involved to perform the work package and ensures the respect of all commitmentsParticipate and input to all relevant project reviews as specified in the PMPAct, where required, as PM delegate to the ClientAct, where required, as the Thales representative for sub-contracted workCapture of Lessons Learned:The WPM must collect, analyse and synthesise the strengths and weaknesses during the performance of the work package, propose recommendations for improvement and record these as prescribed in the PMPWork Package Closure:The WPM must ensure that all the commitments taken in his work package description sheet have been honored by collating all WP data, costs and estimates, recording them and then organise a closure reviewTo succeed at this job, you must have:
