Technical Officer - Test and Evaluation

The Thales Defence Mission Systems Domain is a leading provider of integrated mission solutions to surface ships and submarines, and is the No.1 Naval fleet support and technical services company in Australia. It is also a specialist in the upgrade of naval vessels providing systems and platforms integration capabilities. The Technical Officer for Test and Evaluation will work as part of a team of engineers, technicians and production staff involved in the manufacture and repair of Towed Arrays.

Your Role
As a Technical Officer - Test and Evaluation, you are accountable for:

Electrical, electronic, acoustic, and mechanical testing and of all components, production materials and qualification samplesAccurately record and document all work performed using the relevant company repair, refurbishment, upgrade and test procedures.Develop and document test methods and procedures for products and equipment as required.Adherence to relevant company quality and safety standards, including ESD precautions. Observe good housekeeping and provide input to JSEAs and risk assessments as required.Perform general mechanical processing and assemblyCarry out testing and inspection of sub-assemblies where applicable, using general purpose or special test equipment.Proactively participate in the continuous improvement of Lean systems and documenting of processesPrepare technical reports and procedures in support of manufacturing processes, utilising configuration and inventory management software to record and control data (IPESA)Actively contribute to HSE improvements within the group, including the creation and update of JSEAs and risk assessments.Maintain effective communication and collaboration within the towed array production team.Acquiring and maintaining knowledge across all Towed Array manufacturing processes and associated maintenance/test equipment.

Your Experience
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

5 years’ experience in a relevant manufacturing environmentCompetence in oral and written communication.A continuous improvement mindset and problem-solving abilityAbility to prioritise tasks and workload effectivelyWorking knowledge of MS Office productsStructured problem solvingLEAN or other continuous improvement is desirable
