This role will build and manage a team of Powder coatings formulators in delivering a complex portfolio of product development and customer support projects. Work with other functions to set agreed priorities and action plans that support the wider goals. Manage daily laboratory activities to ensure delivery of product color matches, provision of panels and samples for customer approval/trials, supply of accurate formulation costing information to support sales quotations, loading of product formulations into the production system, supervision of new products/colors during manufacturing, ensuring routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
Set goals and review performance to ensure all team members are fully engaged in delivering the technical program. Identify career development needs and set a development plan for each team member.Contribute to the development of the technical plan through working with main functions such as Sales/Marketing and Production to set agreed priorities and goals.Lead, plan and prioritize a program of work for the team to ensure that innovation, value creation, product and process improvement goals are delivered.Develop and maintain products to agreed levels of quality performance, benchmarked against key competitors and in full compliance with Product Stewardship policies.Provide Technical support to Sales/Marketing, Purchasing and Supply Chain.Qualifications:
Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.8+ years of experience in a technical role within the Industrial Coatings sector, specializing in Powder coatings.Must have in-depth knowledge of powder coatings product formulation and costing, raw material sourcing, laboratory test methods, industry standard performance specification testing, color matching, QC and production support (including scale-up and guidance), product application considerations and troubleshooting - preferably in a multinational corporate environment.Given solutions through scientific, experimental, and statistical methods.Experience driving the use of fundamental principles to identify causes of problems.Experience working with other departments, managing people and leading teams across the SEA region.About us:
