Job Description

The Technical Manager will be part of the site leadership team and will interact regularly with quality, manufacturing, and R&D to define process capabilities, improve product consistency, and exceed customer expectations and quality standards. This position will report into the Plant Manager and will be based out of Mt. Juliet, TN. 

Your primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position include:

Safety: Promote safety as the most important value in the organization by contributing through training, project management and other EHS responsibilities.

Process Safety Management: Lead for applicable PSM elements including management of site Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews systems. Drive continuous improvement in these processes.

Lead, develop, and challenge the engineering and maintenance team to improve process reliability, technology advancement, and support continuous improvement projects.

Collaborate with other plants/divisions to identify and implement operational standard methodologies.

Lead capital project planning, communication, and execution to achieve time, cost, and results targets.

Support the scale-up of new products and in the improvement of existing products.

Manage/control cost center and capital project portfolio to achieve targeted results.

Apply rigorous observation and analytical tools to identify and execute projects focused on safety, quality, operating cost, productivity, and fulfillment of customer requirements.

Facilitate/collaborate with other functions to ensure project objectives are aligned with division and plant objectives.

Assess, select, and handle external contractors for project and service requirements.

Member of plant leadership team with leadership responsibilities both within primary function and beyond.

Provide training, mentoring, performance planning, and feedback to develop direct reports and others.

Qualifications

Required:

10+ years experience in plant operation/engineering leadership role.

Experience with process safety management (PSM).

Bachelor’s degree in engineering field is required.

Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (including automation control, AC and DC drives, mechanical drives and systems, PLCs, sensors, and motor controls) and facilities systems.

Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to influence and motivate others to excel.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects concurrently in a dynamic factory environment.

Ability to work with others in a team environment. Actively promote collaboration & teamwork and resolve conflicts.

Strong organization and computer skills - MS Office, MS Project, Google, Lotus Notes, MINITAB, AutoCAD, MP2, Rockwell RS software.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.

Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean Methodologies (Blackbelt/Greenbelt).
