Job Overview:

The Technical Lead is responsible to oversee the creation, maintenance, and evolution of design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency across digital products and delivery of a centralized design system that enables consistent, high-quality user experiences across an organization's products and services. Work closely with designers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure the design system meets the needs of the business and end-users.

Basic Qualifications:

Master's/Bachelor of Engineering in User Experience (UX) Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration

 Minimum 15 years working experience in UX designing

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

Build and maintain scalable design systems, including components, patterns, and guidelines

Work closely with UX designers, developers, and product managers to align design systems with business goals and user needs

Provide technical leadership in implementing design systems, ensuring compatibility across platforms and devices

Ensure design systems meet accessibility standards and are optimized for performance.

Measure and report on the adoption, usage, and impact of the design system

Advocate for the design system and evangelize its benefits across the organization

Identify opportunities to leverage the design system to improve product consistency and development efficiency

Prioritize features and improvements based on user needs, business priorities, and technical considerations

Review and approve new components, patterns, and updates to the design system

Conduct user research to understand user needs and pain points related to the design system

Gather feedback from developers and designers to identify areas for improvement

Analyze usage data to identify trends and prioritize updates

Create comprehensive documentation for the design system, including component usage guidelines, style guides, and best practices.

Develop and deliver training sessions to educate designers and developers on the design system

Stay updated on industry trends and integrate new tools and methodologies into the design system

Technical Expertise:

Preference will be given to candidates with 12 or more years of working experience with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and design tools (Figma, Sketch) in a product development role

Strong understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

Experience working on StencilJS, Angular, React, NextJs, SCSS, Docker, Typescript, Git, Cypress and Selenium

Experience in managing or leading design teams

Strong understanding of design principles, user-centered design methodologies, and accessibility standards and responsive design principles

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex design concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Analytical mindset with the ability to measure and report on the performance of the design system

Desired Skills:

Experience working in an enterprise-level organization with complex product ecosystems

Knowledge of design system best practices and industry trends

Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles

Hands-on experience with design system implementation and maintenance
