Pay & Benefits:

Pay of $60.37 per hour*, with the opportunity for future increase per applicable collective bargaining agreement wage scale based on time in position. Opportunities for overtime and shift premiums.

As a Technical Instructor for Southwest Airlines’ Technical Operations (Tech Ops) Training Team, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-impact Quality Control training programs that support our internal Tech Ops Employees, On-Call Maintenance Providers, and Airframe Substantial Maintenance Providers/Designees. You’ll create and revise curriculum focused on system operation, troubleshooting procedures, and specialized measurement tooling, which are all aimed at reducing non-confirmed component failures and enhancing operational reliability. This role also involves developing computer-based training courseware and instructing on all Quality Control-related subjects. As part of the team that powers all Tech Ops training across the organization, you’ll play a key role in equipping our maintenance professionals with the knowledge and tools they need to keep our aircraft safe, our operations efficient, and our Customers flying with confidence.

ResponsibilitiesProvide training to SWA Employees, On-Call Maintenance Providers and Airframe Substantial Maintenance Providers/Designees in accordance with the Maintenance Procedures Manual (MPM)Design, develop, implement and revise training curriculums emphasizing system operation and troubleshooting procedures to reduce non confirmed component failuresDesign, develop, and implement special training curriculums to provide authorization of AMTs for critical aircraft maintenance functionsDevelop and operate computer based training coursewareProvide training required by governmental regulations (i.e. FAA, OSHA, & EPA)Provide assistance with aircraft troubleshooting/act as a technical liaison to internal departments or Governmental agenciesProvides needs assessment and analysis to provide training solutions to operational problemsMust be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this descriptionMay perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be able to instruct on all aircraft systems and aircraft maintenance related subjectsMust possess excellent analytical and organizational skillsMust be able to read and interpret complex technical manuals, logic diagrams, and schematicsMust have strong written and verbal skills and ability to speak in a classroom situationMust be able to operate visual aids such as audio/video equipment and training simulatorsKnowledge of Windows based PC software, requiredKnowledge of CBT courseware design software, preferredKnowledge of Wizard or MaxiMerlin mainframe computer system, preferredEducationRequired: High School Diploma or GEDPreferred: Bachelor's Degree

ExperienceRequired: 8 years of commercial aviation industry experienceRequired: 5 years of hands-on commercial aircraft maintenance or 5 years Boeing 737 instructional design/courseware development and technical instruction experience

Licensing/CertificationFAA Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate, required

Physical AbilitiesMust be able to stand and publicly speak up to 6 hours per dayMust be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds on a regular basisMust be able to access all sections of the aircraft via stands and ladders

Other QualificationsMust maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelinesMust be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986Must be at least 18 years of ageMust be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelinesMust be willing to travel extensively for long periods of time, frequentlyMust be willing to work variable days/shifts, frequently
