Job Summary
The Technical Editor position supports multiple project offices within Program Executive Office (PEO) Missile and Space (M&S) performing technical writing and/or technical communications. Duties include writing and editing technical reports, requirements documentation, white papers, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information. The technical editor will develop, gather, and disseminate technical information among customers, developers, and test support personnel. To ensure the production of high-quality documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience meets applicable standards, and is easy to understand, the technical editor will regularly collaborate with analysts and team leaders. In addition to documentation support, the technical editor will assist with mission critical data and documentation transfers between separate secured networks.
Roles and Responsibilities
Edit and proofread materials written by others and provide suggested revisionDevelop and review all documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with editorial and government specifications, and adherence to standards for quality, format, style, graphics, and technical accuracyGather and research technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activitiesAssemble complex technical concepts and integrate them into easily understandable text and figuresWork in a collaborative environment with internal teams and customers on product and documentation requirementsBuild solid relationships with team members, leadership, and customers to facilitate working in a collaborative environmentSafe, mature, and discretionary handling of sensitive data and documentationBasic Qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret ClearancePossess a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree Technical Writing, English, or JournalismProficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPointExperience preparing detailed documentation for complex technical projects in conformance with strict product preparation guidelinesEffective verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences or facilitate group discussions and develop accurate written materials to clearly and concisely communicate informationPreferred Qualifications
Experience with Adobe Acrobat ProExperience with Air and Missile Defense (AMD) or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and/or government grant writing desired2 - 4 years of experience writing and/or editing technical documents (i.e. TEMPs, test plans, analysis reports)Belong, Connect and Grow at KBR
