Reporting to the Line Producer, you will:

Set the technical direction and roadmap in alignment with project and studio-wide goals

Define and drive technical KPIs, code quality standards, and engineering best practices

Lead technical decision-making, major prioritizations, and cross-domain alignment

Partner with production, design, operations, and art to ensure realistic planning and feature scope

Translate long-term strategic technical vision into tactical plans and team-level execution

Identify and proactively mitigate major technical risks, technical debt, and inefficiencies

Drive innovation, piloting new tools, workflows, and technologies that improve player experiences and empower developers

Champion a high-performance engineering culture by managing and mentoring leads and senior engineers

Serve as the team’s primary technical point of contact for internal and external partners


Your Qualifications:

10+ years of professional experience in game development

3+ years in a technical leadership role, such as Technical Director or Lead Engineer

Proven ability to set technical direction and deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions

Excellent collaboration, communication, and decision-making skills

Confidence in managing ambiguity and driving alignment across multiple disciplines

Deep knowledge of modern C++ development and real-time game engine architecture

Optional Additions:

Experience leading large, cross-functional engineering teams (20+ engineers)

Background in using metrics and analytics to assess quality, technical risk, or prioritization

Familiarity with cross-platform development, performance profiling, or live service operations

Experience launching games on new platforms and a strong understanding of how to drive scalable development practices across teams

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) * $160,200 - $229,100 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
