DESCRIPTION
The Technical Director, Complex Bridges is a key national role for an established industry leader, with experience on large and complex bridge projects. The position will require leadership skills that can be utilized across the Company to collaborate with Michael Baker International staff to ensure excellence in the firm’s execution of work and deliverables, and client engagement to capture new major bridge projects. The Technical Director, Complex Bridges will use their industry network to identify/engage new clients and provide pre-marketing, tracking, and winning proposals for major bridge project opportunities as assigned by the National Director, Bridge Services. The role will engage on large/complex bridge projects in leadership, technical advisory, and/or quality assurance roles to ensure delivery excellence in delivery of signature bridge projects. The position will build a professional profile and reputation within the industry at local, regional and national levels.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as Program Manager, Project Manager, Technical Manager, Technical Lead, Project Engineer, or Technical Advisor for major bridge projects nationwide. Provide Business Development and Client Engagement efforts to capture major bridge projects nationwide. Assist National Practice and Market Leads, Regional Practice Leads, and Design-Build Lead related to major bridge pursuits, lending expertise and strategy to the pursuit Provide leadership in the pursuit, capture, and delivery of major bridge projects, e.g. river crossings, curved/skewed girder, arch, truss, segmental, cable stayed, extradosed, or suspension bridges. Maintain awareness of industry developments and seek opportunities to develop a professional profile and thought leadership through presentations at relevant conferences/meetings; actively participate in technical committees for trade organizations and industry standards in bridge engineering Build and maintain effective and enduring relationships across Michael Baker offices and external organizations to foster cooperation, collaboration, workshare, and advance technical excellence in complex bridge engineering opportunities. Provide technical advice and guidance to staff; provide technical reassurance to Michael Baker clients and stakeholders Assist in the development of firm-wide talent through coaching and mentoring and identification of technical resources within area of subject matter expertise Author Technical Papers and present at (and/or attend) relevant conferences. Ensure awareness of health and safety in all aspects of design and operations Monitor QA/QC procedures and client requirements for Quality in coordination with the appropriate members of the quality assurance team Contribute to maintenance of the Practice Quality Control Manuals for use by offices across the company and help appropriate members of the quality assurance team perform periodic Discipline Quality Control Audits of offices.EXPERIENCE
20+ years of relevant experience BS in civil/structural engineering required, Masters degree or above preferred. Professional Licensure (AICP, PE, SE, AIA, PG, CCM, etc.)COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position $250,000- $275,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
