Technical Development - Engineering Plastics

Objectives of the Position         

Regional TD role:

Act as gatekeeper for R&D and technical relationships between Customer and BASF.Develop technical proposals/ideas and apply at customer’s site.Develop deep and trusting customer relationships that ensure access to growth opportunities.Develop e-Mobility segment strategy in line with the OEM strategy and value chain eco-system with the support of Sales / BD team in alignment with regional segment marketing and e. Mobility business development team.Establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally in e-Mobility eco-system.Drive and develop sustainable/profitable customer/product portfolios for E/E Modules and e-Mobility segment.Proactively pursue customer-driven innovations and new application fields and manage joint development projects.Individual should have good understanding on the material property, testing and analysis and internal capability to lead the developmental activity at customer end.Identify the needs of new product development and coordinate with product development team and RBU on this process.Aligns TS & AD resources with local Sales or Country needs to achieve trial and troubleshooting requirements   Drives and influences specifications and industry working groups

 

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

Strategy:

Identify new customers, pursue new applications, and interact with corresponding process and product developers of the potential customers, leading to profitable future business.Effectively use internal database to fulfill the end customer requirement to various testing and analysisCompetitive market analysis and create an internal strategy to differentiate BASF at the customer end. Basic understanding of competitive prices and effectively used the concept of value pricing to win the business.Secures IP protection and responsible for JDAs and NDAsManages relevant associations and influences international standardsSecures R&D transfer from TD to research.X-BU Activity: Coordinate and represent the BU function for several customers events (e.g. Technology Day) and sharing the development projects and creating opportunity for other BU to get exposed to new customers, e.g. TAI, MDP and other Industry team.

 

Business:

Scout, identify, analyze, define, and set up target applications, products and drive the business Opportunity pipe for Business growth plan with the country with sales and BD team. Observe and transfer new market trend/development and prepare business case for new product or application development. Work closely with sales colleague on transition of new project to regular supply and make sure the end customer should not get affected for this handover.Maintain the internal database by creating new projects and update the existing one and maintain the accuracy to 100%.Coordinate with local production and quality team on existing and new project management and supporting them in the process of new customer development and audit requirements.

 

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Science degree in Polymer, Chemistry or equivalent, such as Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.5-10 years technical sales working experience preferably with Engineering Plastics industry. In-depth knowledge of Engineering Plastics, technical know-how and applications. Tooling, Plastics Compounding and Application Development experiences would be highly desirable. Have hands-on experience with plastic / polymer processing, plastic processing equipment experience in aspects of injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, etc., would be highly advantageous.Team player (work as an integral part of an inter-disciplined team) and strong communicator (oral presentations, written press releases)Fluent English communication skill in writing, reading & speaking
