The Technical Data Scientist designs, implements, and oversees solutions and applications for the preparation and processing of aircraft operational data, focusing on forward-looking technologies such as Machine Learning and Cloud Computing. He combines practical skills like programming and IT skills with analytical-mathematical thinking and a communication style that allows him to articulate himself to employees and leaders from all disciplines. With expert knowledge in advanced data analysis and Artificial Intelligence, as well as a deep understanding of the technical information generated during aircraft operations, he develops approaches to identify hidden trends in vast amounts of data early and optimize decision-making processes. Through close cooperation with the company's IT and process experts, the Technical Data Scientist creates and maintains an integrated infrastructure that unifies different data sources, enabling the technical end-user to assess technical questions in the most efficient way possible. In this context, the Technical Data Scientist is also available as a project manager. He is an active promoter of the digital corporate culture and supports regular exchanges on the topic of Data Science in the technical area of EAT.

Analyze technical data from aircraft maintenance and operation by applying machine learning and other AI methods

Develop advanced analytics algorithms and data pipelines, including forecasting tools for monitoring and optimizing the technical reliability of our aircraft fleets

Integrate corporate data and, if necessary, expand it with third-party information sources

Improve data collection procedures to capture information relevant for building analytical systems

Process, clean, and verify the integrity of the data used for analysis

Independently develop and implement data science solutions in collaboration with technical staff, as well as conduct training sessions

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations regarding data protection, information security, and aviation law

Lead and participate in projects aimed at continuously improving technical data processing activities

Work closely with the company's departments of Information Technology, Application Management, and Process and Performance Management, as well as the necessary partners within the DPDHL Group

Communicate with suppliers, external companies, scientific institutions, and universities in the development and implementation of projects while safeguarding the interests of DPDHL and EAT

Ensure regular information exchange on the topic of data science across departments and with direct supervisors

YOUR PROFILE

Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or comparable fields, or equivalent practical knowledge as a Data Scientist

Initial professional experience in the data analysis environment

Enthusiasm for aviation, analytics, and digital transformation

High affinity for mechanical engineering or aerospace technology

Solid knowledge in Data Science and Machine Learning

Proficient in technologies such as Pandas or Spark, as well as programming languages like Python, R, SQL, or Java

Experience in preparing and analyzing structured and unstructured data from various sources

Interest in developing advanced analytics for intelligent evaluation of aircraft operational data

Project management experience is desirable

Knowledge of aviation regulations or aircraft maintenance processes is a plus

Strong analytical thinking skills for solving complex tasks

Fluent in German and English

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Experience in virtual teamwork
