Technical Coordinator 

     

Role Purpose

 

// QT point person first contact for external stakeholders including accreditation body.

// Support the Seed Testing Unit with a coaching mindset by expertise from sampling to result communication.

// The Seed Physiology Quality Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for managing all physiology quality tests (seed viability, germination, vigor, and other physiological tests) in the laboratory, coordinating technical operations, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of results according to specified standards and regulations.

// This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

 

 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

// Laboratory Operations & Improvement

- Plan and oversee daily physiology lab operations, ensuring compliance with standards and stakeholder needs.

- Track, log, and ensure data accuracy for all samples.

- Report test results timely to meet SLA and KPIs.

- Implement, improve and validate new testing technologies and methodologies.

- Map, monitor, and evaluate processes for continuous improvement.

- Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks.

 // Resource Coordinator & Compliance

- Coordinate capacity (teams and resources)

 

 

 

 

effectively to mitigate delays.

-Coordinate and manage lab budgets (OPEX & CAPEX) and forecast needs, whilst promoting cost saving initiatives.

- Maintain compliance with SOPs, regulatory and sustainability standards (QMS, GLP, GMP, ISO, ISTA, HSE, OnePSS) including participation of audits, ring and proficiency testing

Conduct risk assessments and promote safety practices.

Champion DSO behavior and OnePSS excellence, lead and participation in Tier meetings.

Authorized to sign off certificates and track the log completion status of preliminary certificates and results reports.

// Data Analysis & Interpretation

- Analyze data using specialized software, statistical methodologies and visualization tools to identify trends.

- Interpret and validate QC checks, prior to communicating results to stakeholders.

- Identify trends and deviations, and lead investigations for non-conformance.

 // Equipment Maintenance & Vendor Management

- Ensure maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab equipment, through deployment of maintenance schedules to limit downtime.

- Coordinate vendor services for equipment repairs and upgrades, and inventory management through consumable stock orders. 

// Training & Development

- Train and coach laboratory teams on new technologies, data analysis techniques, and safety protocols to remain compliant (ISTA, HSE).

Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment across departments.

Actively participate in local, regional and  global projects and surveys, focusing on best practices and innovations in seed physiology testing.

// Communication & Collaboration

- Communicate test results, address inquiries, and provide technical expertise and support effectively to internal stakeholders.

- Collaborate with breeding, research, and production teams to align testing needs and methods.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

// BSc degree in Agriculture, Botany and Microbiology or relevant field

// Seed Analyst Practical training experience and ISO and GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)

// Qualified as Seed Analyst and three-five-year experience in a seed laboratory

// Knowledge of both Seed Physiology and Seed Genetics

// Knowledge of SAP
