Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Function/Dept Purpose Statement:**
+ The MET (Manufacturing excellence Team) group provides maintenance support for process equipment of optical fiber manufacturing. This is accomplished through scheduled preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance and unscheduled corrective maintenance activities. The goal of the organization is to support the operations in the most cost-effective manner, maximize asset effectiveness, and operate safely to ensure no workplace injuries.
+ Technology transfer projects, cost reduction projects, continuous improvement projects.
**Position Responsibilities:**
+ Ensures a safe work environment for self and others.
+ Ensures the protection of Corning’s Intellectual Property (IP).
+ Familiarization with repair system for which MET personnel are responsible and system used to schedule and complete the work.
+ Oversees inspection/repair of process Equipments and auxiliary system.
+ Schedules/coordinates with cross-functional team for shutdown activities.
+ Understands the activities required to calibrate the process equipment and develops the knowledge to understand the scheduling system, the calibration record system, calibration standards, and interfaces with the Operations, Facility, QA, SCM and Engineering organizations.
+ Troubleshoots process and equipment issues and support in implementation of corrective actions.
+ Support process equipment and systems on a daily basis to help ensure reliability of systems and uninterrupted service to process areas.
+ Understands the equipment in the process and interprets data from the process to solve problems; root cause analysis.
+ Works on improvement projects to reduce costs and equipment downtime.
+ Builds effective relations with other plant support groups.
+ Supports development of a new process or machine to improve the current process.
+ Adhere to PCPD guidelines. Familiarization with recognized best practices and manufacturing standards, including LEAN principles, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and ISO/TS certifications
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ 3-year diploma in “Electrical Engineering or a related field” from a Government Polytechnic Institute/Reputed Polytechnic institute (State board of technical education-approved).
+ 3-5 years overall experience working for maintenance of process, manufacturing and facility Equipments in 24x7 manufacturing environment.
+ Must have an understanding on the safe working procedures and standards required when working around/with Energized Electrical HV/LV Systems, switchgear system, High Pressure Systems, Overhead cranes, Vacuum Systems and Industrial Rotational Equipment (Pumps, Motors and Fan Systems), Material handling equipment. Must be able to demonstrate safety mindset and have led small teams in safe work practices.
+ Strong Electrical aptitude- for PLC/SCADA system, Servo drive & CNC system, pneumatic system and hydraulic system, Electrical installation, machine automation, etc.
+ Must be proficient in reading and working with; Schematic Diagrams, Electrical Distribution Diagrams, Block Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation (P&ID) Diagrams.
+ Effective communication skills – able to communicate with team members at all levels (process equipment operators, peers, supervisors, etc.).
+ Able to manage multiple priorities – use good judgment in prioritizing own work and the work of his/her team.
+ Maintenance experience in a Manufacturing Plant - that leads to a better understanding of the equipment and overall processes.
+ Provides first line of support for troubleshooting for associates and operators.
+ Exposure to ‘Clean Room Manufacturing’ and process industry.
+ Exposure to experience with: High RPM Machinery, High RPM Bearings, Vibration Analysis, thermography, heat treatment, Measuring equipment and system.
+ Spare management and inventory control.
**Notes:**
+ Job will be based in Chakan, Pune.
+ Need to work in rotating shifts to support continuous plant operations (24x7).
