The Technical Assembler will assist the Custom Solutions Group with hands-on assembly of custom designed hardware, including mechanical and electrical components.
Responsibilities:
Assembly of all types of custom-designed prototype and production hardware, including mechanical and electro-mechanical components and assemblies. Disassembly of systems and components, and packing of hardware in preparation for shipping. Report form, fit or function issues revealed through the assembly process. Interface daily with the engineers (by verbal or written instructions) to acquire direction, and report status on tasks and projects to which they are assigned. Occasionally interface with various departments: Manufacturing, R&D, Shipping and Procurement. Maintain lab/workspace clean and organized, including clean up after disassembly and packing. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications General knowledge of mechanical and minor electrical assembly techniques.Proficiency in the use of hand tools.Must possess good verbal and written communication skills for writing reports, interfacing with manufacturing, engineering, etc. Ability to inspect parts using applicable measuring devices, Micrometers, Caliper, Optical comparator, etc. This position requires exerting up to 40lbs of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Education/Experience High School diploma or GED equivalent. Previous hands-on experience with mechanical components and assemblies is required. Experience working with electrical components and assemblies is preferred.
