Technical Art Director - Tech
Location: Hybrid (Shanghai, China)
Reports to: Senior Technical Director

As Technical Art Director, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution of our technical art pipeline and toolsets. You’ll lead, mentor, and grow a team of Technical Artists, working closely with Engineering, Art, and Design leadership to ensure our proprietary Frostbite Engine supports high-fidelity content, optimal performance, and seamless workflows across PC, iOS, and Android platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Define and own the technical art roadmap: prioritize initiatives, allocate resources, and drive cross-functional alignment.
• Partner with Production and Art Directors to scope feature milestones, identify technical risks, and ensure on-time delivery.
• Architect, implement, and refine the asset pipeline, tool chains, and engine integrations needed for rapid, high-quality content creation.
• Lead troubleshooting and performance optimization efforts, using profiling/diagnostic tools to maintain our memory, CPU, and GPU budgets.
• Define and enforce technical standards for assets, data structures, naming conventions, and documentation across Art, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Act as the primary liaison between Art, Engineering, Design, QA, and IT, translating creative visions into technical requirements.
• Present technical art plans, demos, and performance reports to leadership and partners.
Qualifications:
• 8+ years in game development with at least 3 years managing Technical Art or similar teams.
• Proven success shipping AAA or high-profile live service titles, ideally on Unreal Engine, or Unity..
• Proficient in major 3D art toolchains; experienced in 3D modeling, level assembly, and node-based scripting systems (e.g., Blueprints, Material Editor).
• Debugging and performance optimization skills, with hands-on experience using profiling and diagnostic tools.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, C#, or Lua.
• Experience of shader programming (HLSL/GLSL) with understanding of real-time rendering fundamentals.
• Passion for games and interests in the latest trends in rendering and optimization technologies.
• Experience with C++ development is a plus.
