We are seeking a Fintech Sector Lead to help shape our Firm's fintech strategy, lead business development efforts in market, identify partnership opportunities with tech companies for the Firm and support Business and Technology in building high-impact relationships.
The ideal candidate brings deep financial services expertise, a strong fintech network, a track record of identifying disruption and assessing market players and their capabilities for strategic fit. The Fintech Sector lead will partner closely with our business and technology leadership to understand their strategic priorities and drive alignment on market solutions to support revenue growth, operational efficiency or regulatory compliance. They will cultivate strategic relationships both within our Firm and with banks, non-bank financial institutions, fintechs and other ecosystem partners to optimize the value of our partnerships.
Primary Responsibilities
This role will support and maintain win-win relationships between the various technology providers and the business divisions of the bank including Wealth Management, Private Bank and Institutional Solutions. The role entails significant elements of relationship development and strategy. Primary elements of the role include:
Strategy and Insights
o Provide curated content and perspectives on market innovation to CIOs and operating committee members through market landscapes, thought pieces and curated executive events.
o Support strategic discussion and decisions on innovation priorities, providing advisory services relevant to the business units
o Conduct market research and provide deep analysis on technology landscape from the Firm's providers and ecosystem to deliver actionable advice to Firm stakeholders
o Analyze market, industry, and technology trends and provide recommendations to internal and external clients based on findings.
o Serve as a FinTech subject matter expert as needed, sharing internal technology perspective with select Research, Institutional and Wealth Management clients
Business Development & Relationship Management
o Assess early to growth stage companies for potential partnership with the Firm. Demonstrate alignment and comprehension of our business and technology partners' priorities by identifying the most relevant disruptors and partners for the Firm
o Align on approach on portfolio of priority tech companies with relevant product owners and client-facing partners and drive to agreed outcomes inclusive of assessing strategic fit, evaluations, deal coverage, mentoring and driving to product decisions
o Ensure successful client and vendor interactions including setting agenda, aligning on intended outcomes, identifying relevant participants and carrying out meetings and events.
o Handle and coordinate escalation of issues (contractual or operational) with vendors, ensuring suitable senior executives at the Firm and vendor are involved o Over 10 years of practical experience in the fintech sector, either within a financial services organization or through consulting roles and at least 5 years in a technology role
o In-depth knowledge of one or more areas such as Wealth Management, Investment Management, Institutional Sales & Trading, or Investment Banking
o Proven expertise in platform technologies and emerging fintech innovations like Blockchain, Distributed Ledger Technology, AI, and Data
o Proficient in market research, tool utilization, and business analysis, including ROI case studies and transformation business cases
o Thrives in high-pressure and challenging business environments
o Skilled in conveying complex issues to decision-makers and stakeholders
o Strong ability to switch contexts, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to change
o Demonstrated proficiency in business writing
