Team Leader Controls and Calibration
**Key Responsibilities:** + Lead the day-to-day activities in the development of vehicle driveline systems for all customer programs including technical support to the customer and internal GKN. + Lead the development, simulation, verification, validation and calibration for each required control algorithm by using the GKN global development processes which includes: + Manage the day-to-day activities of the assigned program(s). + Formulate a development plan for each program(s) for all stages of vehicle development. + Prepare the required checklists and other documentation required at each vehicle development milestone. + Verify that the system performance meets the program requirements while running the design verification tests. + Host and attend calibration peer reviews as needed. + Host and attend data peer reviews as needed. + Lead the testing and calibration efforts on all programs using various properties including desktop simulation, HIL, and a test rig. + Assist controls engineers with algorithm development by providing test traces and feedback. + Aid controls and functional software engineers in defining test cases for newly developed control algorithms. + Provide technical assistance and feedback to GKN design and system engineering teams regarding system integration, testing, and function. + Provide calibration support to customer and account teams for investigation and resolution of potential hardware (system) issues. + Adhere to the GKN Product Safety Policy and Product Safety Procedure. + Support other activities as required. + Guide the team during complex technical decisions or defect analysis. + Provide technical expertise in Instrumentation and Data Acquisition. + Responsible for performing in-vehicle reviews with development team. + Creates test matrices and processes to ensure software quality and vehicle performance for releases. + Responsible for vehicle development planning for a given program. **Formal qualifications required:** + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Automotive/ Controls) **Previous experience required:** + 2+ years with exposure to vehicle testing / evaluation / controls development + Valid driver’s license **Skills:** + Excellent verbal and written communications + Understanding of vehicle dynamics + Familiarity with mechatronic systems + Ability to work independently and within a broader group with vehicles and system components + Availability to travel as needed to support vehicle testing activities: 25% outside local metropolitan area + Must be fluent in English + Must be able to work and travel independently + Strong problem solving and analytical skills + Ability to work in a culturally diverse team environment **Software / Tool Exposure:** Vector CANalyzer, Vector CANape, ATI VISION, Matlab, Simulink, vehicle network architecture (CAN, CAN FD, Flexray, Ethernet), vehicle simulation tools (e.g. CarSim, Dyna4), wiring and connectors, instrumentation and data acquisition **About GKN Automotive:** We have been inventing the future for 250 years.
