Under the direction of a Radiologist the Team Leader, performs CT exams at a technical level that does not require direct supervision. Incumbent uses independent judgment, ingenuity and acquired knowledge to obtain quality diagnostic images. A constant awareness of infection control standards, the importance of sterility and an acute awareness of patient care protocols and to continually strive for ALARA is required. He/she assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.
The Team Leader will guide and supervise CT staff. The incumbent will coordinate Medical Imaging technical and support staff activities in conjunction with the Medical Imaging Director and Clinical Educator. She/he will consistently demonstrate expert proficiency in working with all patient populations, and will serve as a facility resource for staff and physicians. The incumbent demonstrates leadership skills and is accountable for the quality of patient care, orientation, education and development of the staff. He/she assists with scheduling, office duties, input on budget variances and preparation, payroll, and performs staff evaluationsand any necessary corrective action.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
COMPETENCIES: Must be fully knowledgeable of CT exams and procedures. Technologists must be capable of performing exams independently. Must have a complete working knowledge in the principals of physics, anatomy, medical terminology, sterile technique and safety as it relates to CT practice. Must stay current with radiation protection techniques to practice ALARA This position requires the incumbent work cooperatively with department staff by sharing in taking rotational call and holiday hours. Must have the ability to speak, read and write using the English language. Bilingual capabilities in Spanish are desirable, but not required The incumbent must meet the ECHN age specific knowledge/skill requirements and complete all ECHN assigned training and development in the time frames prescribed by the organization. Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills. Strong ability to multi-task in a high volume work environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
EXPERIENCE: Three to five years Medical Imaging experience required. Leadership experience desired.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assures that patient’s clinical data coincides with and matches the type of exam that is being ordered. Follows up with ordering provider when exam ordered is in question and does not seem reasonable given the patient’s clinical record. 2. Provides appropriate clinical care during and after to assure the patient’s comfort. Properly prepares and positions patients taking care that IV’s, catheters and oxygen leads, etc., remain intact and are handled with care. Exhibits a constant awareness of sterile practice, and initiates all procedures using appropriate Infection Control procedure. 3. Applies expertise and knowledge of scanner’s functionality during patient exam to obtain quality images. Is completely familiar with the capabilities of the imaging equipment. 4. Provides high quality images for Radiologist interpretation. While following ALARA 5. Accurately completes computer (Meditech) patient documentation to include the impression, a limited or complete exam, the date, whether it was a bi-lateral or uni-lateral, right or left, etc. Assures the accuracy of documentation understanding that all items will be charged to the patient’s hospital bill. Submits correctly documented and labeled exam to the Radiologist and is available for review and discussion. Works cooperatively to accomplish all tasks and leads the CT Team. 6. Is able to work in a stressful environment with minimal disruption of abilities. 7. Ensures that staff reviews all information, interviews patient prior to performing procedure, considers patients’ medical/surgical condition and documents additional information in the patient’s medical record. 8. Actively participates in the maintenance of stock, and the ordering of supplies. 9. Actively mentors, instructs and encourages new staff members and student population. 10. Shows, a willingness to accomplish a task as a team with a commitment to Core Values. 11. Prepares staff schedules including PL approval in accordance with the department policies. 12. Provides an organized patient schedule in conjunction with daily needs and is willing to make schedule adjustments as needed. 13. Delegates appropriate personnel to care for patients in all areas needed. 14. Actively participates in yearly evaluation process for staff under their direction. 15. Consistently considers long term plan and proactively stays abreast of technology as needed for the department as evidenced by accurate guidance in the introductionof new procedures and equipment purchases. 16. Interacts with the Medical Imaging Director by proactively communicating any problems or ideas to and from staff and physicians that may require management input. 17. Is available to guide staff through difficult and unusual situations. 18. Works in collaboration with the Medical Imaging Clinical Educator on quality and safety initiatives. 19. Holds monthly staff meeting to include agenda and meeting minutes. Provides follow up for all items. 20. Works with University students and administration and is responsible to scheduling and monitoring daily student activities, evaluations and meetings. 21. Prepares ACR accreditation materials in coordination with the Medical Imaging Clinical Educator. 22. Demonstrates skill in venipuncture. 23. Follows Regulatory requirements from agencies such as the ACR, The Joint Commission and Department of Public Health. 24. Independently responds on a call basis to perform procedures. Drives to affiliate and/or contracted location to provide services as may be required. 25. Works cooperatively and exhibits Core Values at all time in order to accomplish all tasks as a member of the Medical Imaging Team.
