As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Claims, Disputes and Fraud Operations product, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

Lead a team of 6 engineers with a strong focus on Java and AWS technologies, ensuring effective collaboration and communicationExecutes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problemsCombines hands-on development with team management by creating secure, high-quality code and reviewing and debugging team members' code for quality assurance.Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systemsLeads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architectureLeads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologiesAdds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5+ years of applied experienceHands-on experience with AWS technologiesStrong familiarities with micro-service designs and proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life CycleDeep technical knowledge of utilizing frameworks to deliver applications, and being able to dive deep into code implementationsHands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stabilityAdvanced in one or more programming language(s)Advanced understanding of agile methodologies Proficient in implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment practices to streamline software development processes, enhance collaboration, and ensure rapid delivery of high-quality software products.Skilled in designing and developing applications with robust resiliency features, ensuring they can withstand and recover from failures, maintain availability, and provide consistent performance under varying conditions.Proficient in integrating security measures within the software development lifecycle, including threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and implementing best practices to safeguard applications against potential security threats and breaches.Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skillsAWS Developer or Architect Certifications6+ Years of Java development experience In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
