The Position

Core Lab Development (CLD), a part of Roche Diagnostics Solution (RDS), is the global organization responsible for the development of tests in the area of clinical and immuno chemistry, coagulation and mass spec and the related analytic systems. In addition, core lab also focuses on the development lab automation comprising transport systems and pre- and post-analytical systems and the integration of the various systems to a comprehensive solution.

As an important component of this mission, the Solution Automation Integration & Test (SAIT) Subchapter is tasked with providing essential services and capabilities to ensure the seamless integration and testing of our Automation Systems and End-to-End Solutions. Within the SAIT Subchapter, we are seeking a Team Lead who can lead a team of System and Test Engineers with the focus on Automation System Integration and Testing.

As the Automation Integration Team Lead, you will be an integral member of the SAIT subchapter, responsible for guiding a team of Systems and Integration Engineers. This team's core accountability lies in ensuring the robust functioning of pre- and post-analytical systems, transport systems and their connectivity and compatibility of our automation systems.

You will provide decisive leadership to your team, offering expert guidance, comprehensive coaching, and steadfast support throughout all phases of project execution. A key aspect of your role will be fostering a culture defined by high performance, continuous improvement, and clear accountability. The Opportunity

People leadership: As a Team Lead, you will be instrumental in cultivating an innovative and positive team culture while driving performance through effective goal-setting, continuous feedback, and tailored professional development plans. You will expertly navigate organizational change, resolve conflicts to maintain a harmonious environment, and ensure full compliance with all training, quality, and employment regulations.

Resource Management: You plan, direct, and monitor team resources and costs, focusing on short-term subchapter goals. This includes resolving problems, making decisions, and ensuring adherence to budget and headcount targets through effective workforce management, including hiring.

Execution of strategic priorities: In this role, you translate high-level unit goals into actionable team priorities, ensuring their achievement through optimal resource and work allocation. Collaborating closely with the Sub-Chapter Lead and other Team Leads, you will identify and address strategic capability needs, support operational activities, and contribute to defining the lab roadmap, ensuring that short-term and long-term infrastructure needs are met to support continuous system integration and testing efforts. You will also serve as a subject matter expert on complex issues.

Vision and impact: You will formulate the departmental vision, contributing to the development of team strategies and corporate processes. You will also drive your team's efforts to achieve consistency across Core lab development and R&D, fostering efficiency for a continuously improving, modern, and state-of-the-art organization  including optimization of shared lab resources and infrastructure.

Who you are

University degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Natural Sciences.

7+ years of experience in medical device product development (mechatronic), with a strong preference for In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) products.

5+ years of hands-on experience in integration and testing activities within a regulated environment.

Proven leadership experience, ideally demonstrated through a successful track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

Fluency in English (both verbal and written) is essential. Fluency in German is an advantage.
