POSITION TITLE:              Team Lead

JOB DESCRIPTION:          TransPerfect Translations International, Inc. seeks to hire a Team Lead to work in our office in New York, New York. Telecommuting is permitted. This role focuses heavily on ensuring top-notch language quality and translation accuracy. The Team Lead will collaborate with a team of translators, overseeing linguistic quality control, and drive efforts to enhance translation processes. This role requires a deep commitment to linguistic accuracy, continuous improvement in translation practices and effective team leadership.

The Team Lead will perform the following duties:

• Linguistic Oversight and Project Management: Lead and manage translation projects with a strong emphasis on linguistic quality. Oversee all aspects of translation to ensure adherence to high standards of accuracy, fluency, and cultural appropriateness.

• Distribute translation tasks within the team depending on importance and complexity: preflight each job and decide on the most appropriate PM; ensuring each job meets language quality

standards;

• Heavy focus on quality assurance: implement rigorous checks to maintain linguistic accuracy and project confidence;

• Develop and implement quality control procedures to address and prevent language-related issues;

• Generate ideas for improvements of project workflows (i.e. automation through technology, specialized knowledge and experience, quality control procedures);

• Ensure team members are trained in and utilize translation best practices and tools. Ensuring skills are up-to-date and cutting edge at all times;

• Work on production plans for key / strategic accounts or initiatives working closely with other departments and relevant stakeholders; optimizing translation workflows and technology use;

• Act as a key liaison between clients and the translation team. Address client feedback regarding language and quality, ensuring that all client requirements are met and exceeded. Assist PC/PM in effectively liaising with other departments that are essential parts of project workflow to ensure that the project perfectly complies with instructions and quality standards;

• Develop and maintain a repository of linguistic resources, including translation memories, glossaries, and style guides. Ensure the team utilizes these resources effectively to maintain consistency and accuracy;

• Develop relationships with CS/Sales acting as internal consultants to develop proposals for existing and new clients;

• As part of the production plan, create/plan a risk management breakdown, delegate owners for each action and share with all stakeholders for sign off and alignment;

• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to translation quality. Provide actionable feedback to team members and manage performance reviews with a focus on continuous improvement in language skills;

• Be accountable for client complaints regarding projects together with the Department Manager, coordinate both internal, and freelance production staff under her/his supervision that maybe involved and make sure solutions to CRs are enforced and applied;

REQUIREMENTS:         Req. Bachelors in Translation, Linguistics, Business Management or other closely related field. The successful candidate must also have two (2) years of experience as a translation project manager, which includes two (2) years of experience with the following:

• Creating project plans and tracking schedules for individual projects and departments;

• Managing projects, including job placement and job setup, deadline management, and price negotiation;

• Engaging with and training vendors for project needs;

• Communicating with clients and analyzing client feedback;

• Coordinating different departments and team members;

• Utilizing project management tools, including JIRA and Confluence;

• Utilizing WordFast 5 Pro.

RATE OF PAY:                    $65,541.00/yr. – $65,541.00/yr.
