Design Lead, Marketing
Position Overview:
The Design Manager will lead a team of designers and oversee the creation of designs, concepts, and layouts across multiple platforms. This role requires exceptional visual communication skills to effectively convey messages to target audiences. The successful candidate will manage the development of various design assets including digital graphics, web elements, logos, illustrations, advertisements, brochures, and other forms of visual communication.
The Design Manager will collaborate closely with Marketing teams globally to support different business and service lines. They must comprehend the strategy, audience, and objectives behind complex design projects, provide appropriate solutions with minimal direction, and work effectively with cross-functional contributors including marketers and various levels of management. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of design and digital projects across regions, serving as a traffic manager for work from the global organization. The ideal candidate identifies trends and assesses opportunities to improve processes and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and mentor a global design team, providing constructive feedback and guidance to foster professional growth
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish design goals and objectives
• Develop and maintain a cohesive design vision and creative direction • Ensure consistent brand implementation across all design initiatives
• Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders and senior leadership • Monitor industry trends and advancements in design technology
• Manage projects according to agreed scopes and timelines, including complex integrated projects with digital, print, events, media, and social media components
• Apply art direction expertise with strong knowledge of photography, video production, interactive PDFs, and client pitch/proposal development
• Create comprehensive creative briefs based on collaborative ideation sessions, including direction, schedules, and deliverables for the creative team
• Obtain team approval on final layouts, storyboards, and illustrations; facilitate feedback mechanisms and respond effectively to internal commentary
• Monitor project design and production progress, proactively addressing potential issues or delays, and evaluating project performance
• Function as a hands-on designer when needed, creating high-quality visual content across multiple formats including brochures, infographics, social media assets, web graphics, logos, emailers, event materials, and posters
Qualifications:
• Minimum 8-10 years of relevant design experience
• Bachelor's degree in Visual Communications, Graphic Design, or equivalent professional experience
• Strong creative vision and visual arts skills with an established B2B portfolio showcasing print and digital marketing collateral
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign (including interactive capabilities), Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Experience working in multicultural environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate design decisions clearly
• Demonstrated ability to work proactively, autonomously, and accountability for decisions
• Effective communication of concepts through written, visual, and verbal means
• Confident interaction with internal stakeholders and external suppliers at all levels, with strong influencing and negotiation skills
• Positive and demonstrable people management capabilities
• Superior understanding of fundamental print and web publishing concepts and graphic design principles
• Ability to receive, interpret, and implement constructive feedback on design work
• Team-oriented attitude with the capacity to contribute to design and marketing strategy
• Strong work ethic with self-management skills, resourcefulness in addressing challenges, and effective multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
