Office of Mental Health, a NYS agency, has teaching opportunities throughout New York State. NYC Children’s Center is recruiting a teacher to provide educational instruction to students with psychiatric diagnoses. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.As a Teacher with NYCCC, you will utilize professional training and experience to plan lessons and curriculums and instruct and evaluate the performance and progress of students. You will also performing a wide variety of tasks including:• Preparing lesson plans within the curriculum that meets the student’s individual needs• Teaching class sessions using a planned daily lesson plan as a guide• Evaluating the student’s performance and progress• Maintaining records of progress and behavior • Collaborating with clinical staff to help meet treatment and academic goals and objects for each student Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they meet any of the following:Teacher 2 – Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.Teacher 3 – Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.Teacher 4 - Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and 2 years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty. ORCandidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Teacher eligible list.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
