Purpose & Accountability:
The Tax and Treasury Team Leader is responsible for overseeing tax compliance, reporting, and treasury functions within the finance department. They manage a team of professionals to ensure accurate tax filings and effective cash management. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role plays a critical role in maintaining financial compliance and liquidity for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations, including timely payment of taxes and submission of required documentation.
- Review tax calculations, deductions, and credits to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax savings opportunities.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to address tax-related inquiries and resolve compliance issues.
2. Treasury Management:
- Overseeing cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs and financial obligations, including monitoring bank balances and cash positions.
- Ensure alignment with cash management strategies and policies.
- Maintain banking relationships and negotiate terms and conditions with financial institutions to ensure favorable terms and services.
- Monitor and manage debt obligations, including loan agreements, bond issuances, and interest payments.
3. Compliance and Risk Management:
- Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures related to tax compliance, and treasury operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, internal policies and other relevant regulations.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the tax and treasury teams, fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for training and development to enhance team capabilities.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity, teamwork, and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience in tax compliance and treasury management (at least 5 years), ideally with 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations and treasury management principles
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and internal controls.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Reporting: Reports directly to the Finance Manager or Director of Finance.
