Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant with large company experience to join our team in Pittston, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will take the lead in managing sales and use tax processes, ensuring compliance, and driving operational efficiency within the tax function. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate across departments, mentor team members, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Manage sales and use tax compliance across all jurisdictions, including maintaining tax engines and leading audit processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of tax determination, assessment, billing, and reporting systems.
• Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency using automation tools and advanced analytical methods.
• Monitor team performance, provide mentorship, and escalate concerns to leadership when necessary.
• Research tax-related risk areas and propose actionable solutions to mitigate potential issues.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in Vertex O Series, leveraging its functionality to streamline tax reporting and compliance.
• Act as a backup for the Director of Tax during absences, ensuring seamless continuity in operations.
• Implement best practices within the tax function to enhance productivity and compliance standards.
• Analyze data using Excel and Vertex Reporting to identify trends and support decision-making processes.
• Foster strong interdepartmental relationships to improve collaboration and communication.
Requirements • Proven experience in corporate tax, with a focus on sales and use tax compliance.
• Proficiency in Vertex O Series, including Returns and Reporting functionality.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and process improvement.
• Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations across state and local jurisdictions.
• Experience with automation tools and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to identify operational risks and implement effective solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including mentoring and managing team performance.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across departments.
