Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-driven Tax Senior specializing in corporate taxation to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role focuses on managing indirect tax compliance, ensuring accurate reporting, and staying ahead of regulatory changes across various jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will excel in analytical problem-solving, thrive in a collaborative environment, and bring expertise in handling a wide range of tax responsibilities. Responsibilities: • Prepare and submit accurate and timely state and local tax returns, including sales, use, fuel, excise, and property taxes. • Maintain and validate sales tax exemption certificates to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. • Reconcile indirect tax accounts with the general ledger, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed. • Conduct in-depth research on tax legislation and provide analyses to address complex tax issues. • Respond to inquiries from tax authorities, manage audits, and collaborate with internal teams to gather documentation. • Monitor updates to tax rates, laws, and filing requirements, implementing changes as necessary. • Oversee excise tax reporting and compliance, ensuring data accuracy and timely filings. • Enhance tax compliance systems and tools, such as Avalara, Vertex, or Sovos, to improve efficiency. • Collaborate with departments including finance, legal, and sales to ensure tax compliance in contracts and business transactions. • Support process automation and tax setup initiatives, including due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
