In-Office: This is a 100% in-office role based at our Schaumburg and/or Rochester, NY locations. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this position. Candidates must be able to work on-site five days per week during designated work hours.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Tax Specialist I to join our Tax Filing Team. All facets of the organization including Sales, Implementation, Client Service and Finance rely upon Paylocity’s Tax Services department. Annually, Tax Services is responsible for tax deposits exceeding $40 billion and tax filing one million tax returns. The Tax Filing Service is responsible for Tax Deposits exceeding $12 billion annually and filing 300,000 tax returns.
Primary Responsibilties
Basic understanding of internal tax department processesSupport preparation and filing quarterly and annual returns with state and local tax agenciesSupport preparation and filing amended quarterly and annual returns with state and local tax agenciesPrepare data exchanges with tax agenciesMaintain systems with accurate deposit frequency, rates, EINs and payment methodIdentify error trends and report to Tax Filing ManagerDemonstrate knowledge to communicate effectively, internally and externally, regarding tax issuesWork with the internal departments to answer client’s questions regarding tax issuesCorresponding with and building relationships with state tax agenciesCommunicate information related to basic taxation issues to internal partners designated to managing client relationshipKeep up to date on latest developments as they affect tax regulations and policiesIdependently seek out new opportunities to improve the overall quality of filings on our client’s behalfExperience and Skills Required
Minimum one to two years’ experience in payrollMinimum one to two years’ experience in tax or a related fieldExperience with Enterprise Employment Tax Software Tools a plusExperience as Payroll Practitioner for large company a plusPayroll service bureau experience a plusCertified Payroll Professional preferred or progress toward certification desiredExperience in a high volume payroll tax department highly desirableIntermediate to Advanced Excel knowledgeStrong communication skills and problem-solving abilityHigh level of integrityPaylocity is an equal-opportunity employer.
