What the day will look like Monitor regulatory changes and prepare for implementation promptly Actively track and evaluate updates to local regulations, rulings and policy changes. This includes participating in tax forums, subscribing to relevant updates and engaging with external advisors when necessary. Develop internal action plans and conduct timely briefings for trainings to ensure the organization remains compliant and well-positioned to implement new rules without disruption to business operations Access tax website regularly assesses and report on impact of new tax regulations (~20/year), circulars (~120/year), memorandum orders (~50/year) Propose and monitor implementation of process and reporting improvements to comply with new regulations Strengthen audit readiness, address gaps identified from the current audits and enhance internal controls before issues arise Conduct periodic assessments of current audit findings and proactively resolve recurring issues. Collaborate with stakeholders to close compliance gaps and reinforce internal controls to minimize audit risks. This involves reviewing documentation processes, improving tax data accuracy, and establishing stronger workflows to prevent discrepancies before they are raised in formal audits. Implement additional compliance controls to address and close gaps where prior tax assessments were received Value-added tax - monthly checks for accuracy of VAT zero-rating and amounts at point of invoicing Annual reconciliation of salaries and wages as reported in the audited FS versus the annual alpha list filing Reconciliation of expanded withholding tax schedules per applicable tax rate versus all expense accounts Revenue reconciliations between amounts as reported from SSRS, workday, tax returns Quarterly reconciliation of creditable withholding taxes (recorded vs received vs filed) Compilation of documents for key areas which have historically been a focus of tax audits Related party transactions Vat zero-rating for services rendered to non-residents and local export enterprises Focus on strategic tax planning and optimization Shift from reactive compliance to proactive tax planning by analyzing existing tax positions and identifying opportunities for optimization. Develop strategies that align with the company’s business goals Proactively manage tax deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate filings Implementation of system for availment of the VAT output credit Monthly validation of creditable withholding tax certificates and monitoring of rejected/returned certificates Implementation of tax compliance and control activities allows the rest of the team to focus on strategic tax planning and optimization Implement a comprehensive tax calendar and filing tracker that covers all statutory deadlines and obligations. Assign clear responsibilities and build in internal deadlines to allow for reviews and quality checks before and final submission. Regularly monitor compliance status and coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data well in advance, minimizing the risk of penalties or late filings. Skills and experience that will lead to success Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. Proven experience in Local taxation Strong communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively across various teams and levels of the organization.
