Tax Manager
Sinclair, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead our state income tax compliance and planning efforts. This role is ideal for a tax professional with a strong background in reviewing complex tax returns and managing all aspects of state and local income taxation. You will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, identifying planning opportunities, and mentoring staff in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. **Position Overview** As the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and review of all state and local income/franchise tax returns, managing tax audits, and staying current with legislative changes. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings and support strategic tax planning initiatives. **Key Responsibilities** + Review all state and local income/franchise tax returns and related workpapers. + Manage the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions related to SALT. + Oversee the preparation of quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions. + Analyze nexus and apportionment issues and provide strategic guidance. + Lead and support state and local income tax audits, including documentation and response drafting. + Monitor and interpret changes in SALT legislation and communicate implications to leadership. + Conduct technical research on complex SALT issues and provide actionable recommendations. + Mentor and supervise tax staff and coordinate with external consultants as needed. + Drive process improvements and support special tax projects and initiatives. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. + 10+ years of relevant corporate or public accounting tax experience, with a strong focus on SALT. + Demonstrated experience in reviewing complex state tax returns and managing compliance processes. + Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Oracle, Corptax, and tax research tools (e.g., CCH). + Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills. + Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. The base salary compensation range for this role is $115,000 to $140,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which would be awarded based on individual and company performance. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
