Key job responsibilities
• Develop an understanding of Amazon’s various business models and end-to-end systems to ensure effective communication and requirements with business partners, stakeholders, and tax leadership.
• Help in the development and implementation of the overall indirect tax planning strategy for multiple global businesses.
• Stay informed on the latest changes in tax laws and evaluate their impact on relevant businesses.
• Collaborate closely with finance, legal, and accounting teams to align tax planning with the company's broader business objectives.
• Prepare detailed tax planning recommendations and proposals, presenting them to tax leadership for approval.
• Demonstrate a proven ability to identify and manage tax risks on projects.
• Coordinate the implementation of approved tax planning strategies, ensuring proper documentation and execution.
A day in the life
In this strategic tax advisory role, your day will be filled with opportunities to support business and product launches through comprehensive tax planning and consultation. You will work closely with business teams to shape product strategy and development, ensuring that direct and indirect tax guidance is integrated from the outset. Your responsibilities will include understanding direct tax and VAT/GST planning and compliance, controllership, and audit requirements, drafting tax requirements documentation for new products and services, and leading global tax coordination efforts with regional subject-matter experts. You will conduct pre-launch testing and validation from a tax perspective, and build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to drive successful product launches across multiple geographies.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- CPA, or Master's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience researching indirect tax issues including taxability of products and services.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $80,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $172,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
