How will you make an impact in this role?
This position, based in Mexico City, will lead all aspects of Tax Controversy and oversee all Tax Compliance and Accounting with the support of 3 other team members for all Mexican legal entities.
· Overall responsibility for managing all aspects of tax authority audits and controversies including any settlement discussions with the support of external consultants when necessary.
· Work collaboratively with other groups across the organization to ensure the appropriate documentation is maintained in support of all audits.
· Work collaboratively with the tax planning and advisory team to define the technical criteria to be adopted during tax authority and statutory audits.
· Identify and communicate potential exposures on a timely basis
· Key person involved in discussing material tax positions with external auditors specifically relating to the Financial Statements and Dictamen Fiscal.
· Represent the Tax department with Senior Leaders and the Executive team in Mexico on Tax Controversy matters.
· Final sign off and review of corporate income tax, VAT returns, local tax provision and Dictamen Fiscal.
Minimum Qualifications
· Post-secondary degree in law or accounting with a minimum 12+ years’ experience in Tax Compliance for Corporate Income Tax and VAT.
· Experience in leading Dictamen Fiscal process with external auditors.
· Experience in leading and closing audits with the tax authority for multinational companies (including dealing with PRODECON and any further stages of appeal).
· Experience in providing direction to different teams in creating audit supporting documentation satisfying both the formal traceability requirements combined with the substance requirements as per the requirements of the tax authority.
· Strong understanding of Mexican GAAP and US GAAP tax accounting.
· Experience in managing other tax professionals.
· Strong interpersonal skills, natural collaborator who can engage with multiple stakeholders and senior leaders.
· Experience with a Big 4 firm and/or multinational in the financial sector is preferred.
· Advanced English, written and spoken.
