As the Tax Compliance and Reporting Manager, you will be part of our tax department of 40 people globally and will work closely with our multinational team as well as senior executives. This role is primarily based out of our downtown Toronto head office, with potential for occasional travel to our international locations. The Tax Manager will be involved in a vast scope of responsibilities ranging from tax compliance to modeling the global tax forecast.

 

This role has incredible growth potential for someone ready to proactively manage the increasing complexity of Element’s domestic and international tax requirements. The Tax Manager will play an instrumental role in designing, implementing, and refining all tax compliance & provision related processes and controls.

 

A Day in the Life   

Compliance

Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and submission of domestic and international information returnsManage taxation related audit queries and information requestsResponsible for providing corporate tax return information to external consultants and performing a comprehensive review of deliverables thereofStay current with relevant Canadian and international tax law, trends, and developments

Reporting

Lead the preparation and primary review of Element’s portfolio of monthly, quarterly and annual corporate tax provisions for multiple entities in various jurisdictions, including Canada, the United States, Netherlands, Ireland and others as needed.Lead the preparation of consolidated forecasts of income tax expense, cash taxes and effective income tax rates to support internal and external reporting functionsOwn the financial reporting impact of corporate taxes including the recognition of corporate tax expense and disclosure within Element’s financial statements, book-to-tax analyses, and financial statement recognition.Communicate with external auditors on the consolidated year-end and quarterly tax provision calculation and related disclosures

Other

Identify areas for process improvements and collaborate on various automation of tax processes and ongoing efforts to streamline operationsDocument treatment of significant tax accounting matters, tax related internal controls and accounting policies and proceduresPerform ad hoc tax analysis on tax implications of transactions as needed

 

Requirements 

Qualified CPA with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax with the tax department of a multinational corporation or professional services firmCompletion of CPA In-Depth Tax CoursesHighly skilled in tax technology including but not limited to automation of processes either via Excel or automation toolsStrong team player to work collaboratively with other tax and Finance teams  Previous experience with an ERP system, experience using SAP would be beneficialKnowledge of US tax considered an asset

 

The hiring base salary range for this position is $99,200 - $136,400 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
