Position Overview:
The Tax Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the organization’s tax-related responsibilities, including Federal and multi-state tax return compliance, FAS 109 quarterly and year-end financial analysis, and tax audits. This position assists with effective tax rate analysis, tax planning projects, and ensures adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
Key responsibilities include preparing and filing accurate tax reports in line with current legislation, managing VAT refunds, provisional income tax payments, withholding tax for income and VAT, and handling tax payments related to foreign transactions. The Tax Analyst also provides guidance on VAT-related inquiries and supports the tax team on various projects. Additionally, the role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to monitor changes in tax laws, keeping both local and global teams informed of any potential compliance issues to meet governmental filing and internal deadlines effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
The Tax Analyst is responsible for multi-jurisdictional tax compliance, including income tax, VAT, withholding VAT and Income tax. The role involves assisting the compliance reporting requirements, maintaining tax reporting processes to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley and tax authorities’ compliance. Key tasks include preparing, calculating estimated tax payments, submitting payment requests, and completing tax filing. Additionally, the analyst will research, analyze, and document tax issues, providing recommendations and conclusions to support the organization’s tax strategy reviewed and approved by Accounting Manager, GBS Finance Director and Corporate Tax department. Responsible of tax work papers and the preparation of federal income tax returns, VAT, withholding income tax and VAT, managing the tax return processing function, i.e., the process after completion of the return through filing, including Preparation of completed paper or electronic tax forms (information returns, estimates and payments and reports etc.) for submission. Retention, storage, and retrieval of prepared returns and supporting information, and certified delivery to tax authorities. All of them supervised, approved and advised by Accounting Manager ,GBS Finance Director and external advisors Responsible for fiscal depreciation and inflationary adjustment. Preparation and submission of the monthly VAT returns and recoveries for LATAM entities supervised and approved by Accounting Manager and GBS Finance Director. Preparation of company year-end tax reporting for local and corporate purposes supervised and approved by Accounting Manager and GBS Finance Director. Tax knowledge management - establishing and maintaining tax department comprehensive files (paper and electronic) consistent with business requirements, legal requirements imposed by revenue authorities and document retention policies with respect to all aspects of the tax function – planning, compliance, financial reporting, and audit defense. Assist with the gathering of information to respond to audit requests. Analyze accounts for the purposes of tax return preparation and reconciliation in Black Line system. Assistance in preparation of transfer pricing documentation. Preparation of quarterly and annual income tax forecast and income tax provision supervised and approved by Accounting Manager and GBS Finance Director. Preparing and supporting annual income tax report (Dictamen Fiscal and ISSIF) supervised and approved by Accounting Manager and GBS Finance Director.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or related field. CPA preferred. 3+ years of tax experience in latest roles, with some experience in public accounting. Thorough knowledge of activities in tax area, formal training and experience is required to perform the job effectively. Developed communication skills to exchange sometimes complex information. Constant effective communication with supervisor, co-workers and other professionals is necessary, in particular non-tax financial personnel responsible for data used in tax reporting, for payments of taxes and transactions with tax consequences. Within the company: Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Subsidiaries, and their controlling persons. Outside the company: outside consultants, auditors, and tax authority employees. Excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills. Excellent interaction, relationship management (oral and written) and customer service skills. Experience in VAT recoveries. Experience managing Differed Tax and SIPRED. Knowledge of SAT Website and declarations. Understanding of how this position integrates with others in the finance team and sub-functions. Familiarity with SAP and CorpTax. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills. Solid understanding of database applications. Advanced English (spoken and written).
