Description Senior Tax Manager We are seeking a dedicated Senior Tax Manager to serve as a seasoned leader within our tax team. This key role involves managing complex client engagements, providing high-level technical expertise, and mentoring team members. The Senior Tax Manager also acts as a trusted advisor to clients, offering proactive tax strategies and delivering exceptional service. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership and relationship management skills. You'll play a central role in mentoring emerging talent, contributing to process improvements, and advancing the broader strategic goals of the organization. Key Responsibilities: + Conduct advanced technical review of complex individual and business tax returns. + Lead tax research and strategic planning initiatives for high-value clients. + Act as a primary relationship manager for key clients, ensuring responsive delivery of value-driven services. + Collaborate with other teams to identify and develop opportunities to expand client relationships. + Provide coaching, feedback, and technical mentoring to team members. + Participate in firm-wide initiatives, including operational enhancements and training programs. + Assist with preparing various tax returns and conducting research when needed. + Represent clients with federal, state, and local tax compliance authorities. + Apply GAAP principles and a deep understanding of client financial statements to tax preparation. + Resolve complex tax issues and complete technical research, delivering clear research memos when applicable. + Maintain and expand expertise from past engagements, applying lessons to future efforts. + Cultivate relationships with clients through ongoing communication and exceptional service. + Support firm growth by networking and pursuing new client opportunities. + Stay up to date with technical developments through regular training and self-study. + Perform other duties as required. Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required). + Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation (preferred). Experience & Certifications: + Minimum of eight years of tax experience. + CPA or EA designation (required). Technical Expertise: + Comprehensive understanding of 1040 preparation and advanced tax planning. + Strong knowledge of accounting principles relevant to pass-through entities with revenues under $100M. + Expertise in several industries, with the ability to specialize and deliver tailored solutions. + Ability to make advanced journal entries (AJEs, RJEs, FJEs, STJEs) independently. + Proficiency in setting up tax returns in CCH Engagement and automating processes. + Ability to oversee and review complex tax returns, and manage larger projects collaboratively. + Leadership & Collaboration: + Proven track record of managing a client book and onboarding new clients. + Confidence to engage in strategic tax conversations with clients. + Ability to train colleagues in advanced tax concepts and processes. Other Skills: + Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal/state/local tax regulations. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Proficiency in relevant software programs. + High attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and organizational skills. + Willingness to work overtime as required. + A team-oriented mindset and eagerness to contribute to overall success.
