Tax Accountant – Corporate Income Tax
The primary responsibilities of this position are the preparation of federal and state income and partnership tax returns as well as quarterly estimated tax payments for Southern Company and its subsidiaries. Other responsibilities are listed below.
This position is located in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia Power Company headquarters building. This is an onsite position 4 days per week with one remote workday.

Education Requirements:
BS in Accounting or Finance required CPA highly preferredExperience Requirements:
Minimum 2 -5 years of experience in corporate income and/or partnership tax return preparation Tax research experience preferred Experience utilizing tax return preparation software (preferably CSC Corptax software) Experience with accounting systems (Advanced MS Excel, Oracle, PowerPlan, UI Financial Planner, etc.)Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to apply thorough technical knowledge of income and partnership tax returns Thorough understanding of accounting issues Strong oral and written communication skills Strong work ethic, able to pick up on concepts quickly, but also have a willingness to reach out for assistance when needed Good business judgement Strong organization and documentation skills Ability to analyze current processes, identify issues, and recommend solutions Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with people at various levels, in the team environment and with other departmentsBehavioral Attributes:

Prepare federal and state income and partnership tax returns Maintain partner capital account balances on a quarterly basis Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments to the IRS and state jurisdictions Prepare intercompany tax allocations of consolidated tax data Research tax laws, determine optimum tax treatments of complex transactions and document conclusions Implement enacted federal and state tax laws into the tax compliance processes Prepare amended income tax returns due to audit settlements Respond to IRS and Department of Revenue information data requests Assist subsidiaries' tax accounting personnel in identifying and understanding book/tax differences
