Tariff Accounting Specialist
Robert Half Accountemps
Description
Located in the heart of Northern Colorado’s thriving manufacturing and supply chain hub, our client partners with regional and global clients to streamline operations, manage costs, and navigate the complex world of international trade. As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an Accounting Professional with a focus on tariffs and trade compliance to join our team and help local manufacturers stay competitive in a rapidly changing global market.
Position Overview:
This role blends accounting expertise with international trade knowledge. You’ll analyze how tariffs and trade regulations affect our cost structures, ensure compliance with customs requirements, and collaborate closely with procurement, logistics, and leadership to identify cost-saving strategies — including sourcing locally within Colorado and nearshoring options.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
+ Track and analyze the financial impact of tariffs, duties, and global trade policy changes on materials and finished goods.
+ Maintain accurate tariff schedules, HS code classifications, and compliance documentation.
+ Work with local and regional suppliers to evaluate sourcing opportunities that reduce tariff exposure.
+ Provide detailed reports and forecasts to leadership to support pricing and procurement decisions.
+ Partner with operations and logistics teams to ensure proper customs documentation and timely regulatory filings.
+ Assist with monthly and annual accounting processes related to cost allocations from tariffs.
Qualifications:
+ 3+ years of accounting experience; manufacturing or supply chain exposure strongly preferred.
+ Knowledge of tariffs, customs regulations, HS classification, and trade compliance best practices.
+ Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel; ERP experience preferred (SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite).
+ Excellent attention to detail and ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Experience:
+ Experience in Northern Colorado’s manufacturing or distribution sectors.
+ Familiarity with trade compliance software or global trade management tools.
+ Understanding of US-China-Taiwan trade impacts and strategies for domestic sourcing.
