Tank Integrity Engineer
Description:
A tank integrity engineer focuses on ensuring the structural, operational, and safety integrity of storage tanks throughout their lifecycle. They are responsible for managing and implementing programs that ensure tanks meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies, ultimately aiming to prevent failures and extend the service life of tanks.
Key Responsibilities of a Tank Integrity Engineer:
Compliance: Ensuring adherence to relevant regulations (e.g., PHMSA, industry standards like API 650, 653, 2350). Inspection and Repair: Providing technical support for tank inspections, repairs, and construction, including reviewing repair scopes and drawings Data Management: Maintaining tank integrity databases, tracking data, and integrating it with other corporate programs. Procedure Development: Creating, reviewing, and revising tank integrity procedures, standards, and forms to ensure consistency in practices. Risk Management: Assessing potential risks to tank integrity, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring safety. Budgeting: Managing budgets for tank construction, maintenance, and repair projects. Reporting: Preparing compliance reports, analyzing tank data, and identifying trends. Communication: Collaborating with other teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to ensure efficient and safe tank operations Technical Support: Providing expert knowledge and guidance to other engineers and personnel on tank integrity matters. RBI (Risk Based Inspection): Supporting the implementation and sustainability of RBI programs for tanks.Typical Tasks:
Performing field evaluations on storage tanks. Reviewing tank strappings and supporting the setting of tank level alarms. Quality control of tank inspection and post-modification inspection reports. Preparing for internal and external audits. Ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping of tank inspections and repairs. Developing and implementing tank integrity management programs. Scheduling tank outages for maintenance and repairs. Working with contractors to execute repairs and upgrades. Managing projects in a manner that assures safety, reliability, and environmental responsibility while meeting project goals. NDE and NDT coordinator for mill Will be involved with Boiler scopes and repair plans Development and execution of capital projects around the tank program PRV coordinator for millSkills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Experience in tank construction, maintenance, and integrity management. Strong proficiency in relevant industry standards (e.g., API 650, 653, 2350). Technical writing and communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
