Talent Inclusion Consultant
Job Summary
The Talent Inclusion Consultant supports Southern Company efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive workplace to meet the needs of our employees and the customers and communities we serve.
Southern Company has a bold Intentional Inclusion strategy that speaks to the unique needs of our company. The Consultant position will support the implementation of new strategies, learning and development, employee engagement programming, and other innovative inclusive practices to execute on our goals.
Reporting to the Talent Inclusion Manager, the Consultant will help execute our inclusion strategy, support communications, training, and development initiatives, and assist with designing and implementing other projects and programs across the company as needed. The scope of the Consultant’s work will be broad, anticipating and responding to emerging needs relating to the company’s intentional inclusion efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities
Partner with HR Delivery, Talent Management, Corporate Communications and other key partners to oversee successful execution of inclusion strategy within Southern Company and its operating companies Partner with Talent Inclusion manager and senior leadership to develop and implement inclusion strategies and solutions that align with the organization's goals and values Conduct assessments and analyses to identify areas for improvement and recommend actionable solutions Provide expert advice, principal technical and strategic consulting support related to creating an inclusive work environment, engagement and collaborating with internal and external community partners Be an empathetic listener to concerns raised within communities, protect safe spaces, and provide key insights to core stakeholders Design, develop and deliver trainings/workshops and presentations to business units across the company on inclusion initiatives and topics and ensure they are engaging, accessible, and consistent with the company brand Support Talent Inclusion team with communications, internal committees and other project teams as neededQualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in humanities, social sciences, liberal arts field, or related field required Minimum of 5 years of experience working in Inclusion, human resources or in the non-profit, corporate, government, or higher education sectors required Proficiency in Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other MS Office tools Project management skills - demonstrated ability to be reliable, punctual, and organized to manage multiple projects at the same time Ability to travel during normal business hours with occasional overnight trips is essential Note that this role requires the Consultant to telework part of the time. Ability to work effectively from a remote environment is therefore essential. Dedicated to continuous learning by being a student of our business and staying up to date with emerging trends in Inclusion and learning about diverse experiences, communities and cultures Ability to conduct thorough research on best practices, emerging trends, and evidence-based approaches in inclusion to inform strategic recommendations and program enhancements Commitment to Southern Company valuesJob Requirements

Strong cultural competency and understanding in multiple areas of inclusion Demonstrated organizational savvy with the ability to effectively navigate complex structures, build relationships across departments, and leverage key networks to drive initiatives forward Ability to determine the needs of stakeholders and devise tailored solutions to their goals and objectives Capacity to think boldly and strategically to develop inclusion initiatives for employees in technical, customer service, and corporate roles Experience with serving as a trusted subject matter advisor across a range of stakeholders at varying levels of an organizationTraining and Facilitation
Strong presentation and training skills; ability to convey complex topics in a relatable, sensitive, persuasive, and clear manner to audiences with varying levels of familiarity and comfort with inclusion topics Skilled in creating trainings and workshops as well as knowledge of how to devise learning outcomes and evaluation methods are highly desirable Experience with facilitation in a variety of settings including virtual and in-personCommunication Skills
Outstanding oral and written communication skills with a track record of experience speaking and writing for a professional audience Highly proficient in using creative and accessible design principles to create engaging presentations and other visual aids Ability to write in a clear, concise, and professional manner with internal and external stakeholders including developing talking points that convey complex inclusion ideas and topics clearly to multiple audiences
