The Talent & Culture team are currently seeking a Talent and Communication Specialist. In this position, you will play a central role in fostering a positive employee culture, through internal connections, and engagement, that reinforces a culture of curiosity, discovery, collaboration and well-being across the institution. This position leads the development and delivery of impactful internal communications, supports staff engagement, service initiatives, including supporting facilitation of employee training and development programs.
Ideal for a highly skilled communicator and creative storyteller, this role bridges institutional priorities with meaningful narratives and experiences that resonate with staff. Through writing, collaborative planning, and responsive program facilitation, the Specialist drives initiatives that shape a culture of care and shared purpose. This individual thrives in both the behind-the-scenes coordination that brings programs to life and the front-of-room presence that makes learning impactful.
Essential Responsibilities:
Communications and Engagement (45%)
+ Drafts, edits, and disseminates internal communications, including leadership updates, newsletters, staff recognitions, and institutional milestone messages
+ Develops and implements staff recognition communications, such as, but not limited to ROSE Awards, nominations, celebratory articles, special submissions, ensuring alignment with overall engagement strategies
+ Supports and coordinates a comprehensive internal communications strategy with the Talent & Culture team while aligning museum's goals and culture
+ Collaborate with internal teams to source and share essential information with staff in a timely manner
+ Maintains and curates' internal communication platforms, including the staff intranet
+ Designs and maintains branded templates and resources to support consistent, engaging institutional messaging
Staff Culture & Engagement Initiatives (40%)
+ Leads and coordinates staff activities, fostering cross-functional collaboration to support staff efforts that build community, connection, and inclusion
+ Support the execution of staff recognition and engagement initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture
+ Develops and manages service awards and retirement recognition efforts, including farewell communications and letters of appreciation
+ Coordinates planning and logistics for major internal events such as the annual All Staff Conference, organization –wide gatherings that include quarterly All Staff functions, and internal staff exhibit previews
+ Partners with departments to promote best practices that support an inclusive and respectful workplace culture
Talent & Culture Support (15%)
+ Participate in the delivery and facilitation of Talent & Culture-led learning programs, including Inspiring Service Orientation, welcoming over 600 new staff annually
+ Reviews and maintains training materials and learning resources on the intranet, partnering with subject matter experts to ensure content is current, relevant, and effective
+ Supports program design and development by contributing ideas, structure, and insights to new and evolving initiatives
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in communication, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Proven exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with attention to tone, clarity, empathy and alignment with institutional voice
+ 3+ years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, learning and development or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Proficiency with digital communication platforms, tools, email campaigns and software to engage with staff
+ Experience navigating Learning Management Systems (LMS); experience with intranet platforms is a plus
Special Skills:
+ Demonstrated ability to craft engaging content for diverse audiences
+ Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with capacity to build trust and relationships across all levels of the organization
+ Facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage audiences and adapt content delivery for varied learning styles
+ Strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high standard of work in a dynamic environment
+ Experience using digital communication platforms such as intranet tools, email campaign software, digital signage, etc., to inform and engage staff
+ Ability to gather and apply feedback, using staff input and engagement data to inform continuous improvement of communication and culture initiatives
+ Creative problem-solving mindset, bringing fresh ideas and adaptability to evolving organizational needs
+ Passion for supporting a positive organizational culture and a commitment to The Henry Ford's mission vision and values
