As a NIH T32-supported Research Fellow, you will work independently and in close collaboration/consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientist(s). Analyzes and interprets data. May assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. Incumbent will not be responsible for generating grant funds.
Note: U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency status is required for this position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs and performs experiments. Will keep appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyze the results with the Principal Investigator.May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.Analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data.Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.Department-Specific Information:
Facilitate publications and grant applications by:
Generating new data for the research project.Analyzing data and prepares scientific findings for publication as author or co-author.Working independently on a project and push it forward into novel areas.Helping other laboratory members move their project in novel directions.Compiling and organizing the data generated by members of the laboratory and creating appropriate figures with statistical analysis.Supervising all work in the laboratory to ensure it is carried out with the highest scientific austerity.Other duties may include:
Providing miscellaneous clinical/research report (ad hoc data analysis, hypothesis development, programming, troubleshooting, etc.).Coordinating clinical/research trials in conjunction with Principal Investigator and sponsor and/or funding source.Making independent presentations.Providing system administration and maintenance for local workstation maintenance.Training Research Lab Assistants, Research Fellow, lower-level Research Associates and other related support staff and may be requested by PI to take on specific supervisory activities.In addition, the candidate will be responsible for presentations, submission of fellowships or grant applications, assist the PI with research projects, grant proposals, and mentor and assist other co-workers in the laboratory.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in an area directly related to field of research specialization or related.Experience:
Works independently on research projects developed by a mentor (typically the PI).Acquires technical and theoretical knowledge of research projects and objectives during appointment.Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.Ability to simultaneously manage multiple project objectives with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and oral communication skills and be highly motivated.About UsCedars-Sinai is a leader in providing high-quality healthcare encompassing primary care, specialized medicine and research.
