Systems Specialist - NAM Wet Seal Systems Engineering

Role Summary: 

The Systems Specialist is responsible for leading complex engineering projects, providing technical expertise and support to team members, and driving continuous improvement within the Systems Engineering organization, supporting customers in the US and Canada. This role involves creating engineering work instructions for design teams to generate GA drawings and BOMs for complex customer orders, as well as reviewing and supporting colleagues on order execution. The Systems Specialist also leads multiple initiatives focused on developing or updating work instructions and processes, aligning with global teams, creating new customer standards, and improving Flowserve products. 

Accountabilities (Global) 

Manage the execution of multiple projects and customer orders as assigned by the Systems Engineering Manager. 

Ensure high-quality output with a goal of zero defects (rework or escapes) to avoid costly and time-consuming corrections later in the design and manufacturing process. 

Develop and prepare drawings, P&IDs, layouts, and BOMs from engineering specifications. 

Review and interpret design specifications for each project. 

Select appropriate materials and components based on project specifications and compatibility. 

Create required manufacturing documents, including bills of materials, drawings, instructions, SAP master data, and export controls. 

Provide training and technical assistance to junior engineers while collaborating with internal and external engineering support worldwide. 

Recommend design modifications to improve standard products and lead related implementation projects. 

Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements across functional roles. 

Complete all required trainings on time, including safety, import/export compliance, and ISO quest training. 

Position Requirements: 

7+ years of experience in seal system engineering (preferred). 

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable discipline. 

Knowledge of piping components and design. 

Strong background in Fluid Mechanics, API Standards 682/614, ASME BPVC, etc. 

Working knowledge of ERP and PLM systems (SAP and Windchill preferred). 

Familiarity with pressure piping routing, design, and fabrication in accordance with ASME B31.1 and ASME Section VIII, Division 1. 

Ability to identify and resolve technical issues and risks. 

Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills. 

Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Strong “change agent” mentality with a focus on organizational change management. 

Ability to work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate a sense of urgency. 

Country-Specific Requirements:

Canada 

Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. 

Proficiency in English required 

 Professional Engineer (P.Eng) stamp required.  

Familiarity with Canadian engineering standards and employment regulations. 

Mexico 

Must be legally authorized to work in Mexico. 

Proficiency in Spanish and English required. 

Knowledge of Mexican labor law and industry standards. 

Experience working with local suppliers and manufacturing facilities preferred. 

United States (Kalamazoo, MI or Tulsa, OK) 

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. 

Proficiency in English required. 

Familiarity with OSHA standards and U.S. compliance regulations.
