Systems Engineer II
TEKsystems
Description
- full Microsoft stack– Active Directory, DNS, IIS, Windows server maintenance (primarily 2012 and 2016, and 2022 servers), 600 Windows servers, AD audit, AD server desk, AD manager. Patching for bio-medical devices with Windows 10 as well.
- Windows servers - this person will be logged into multiple Windows servers throughout the day, working on core services, application troubleshooting, getting information from the servers to application vendors, troubleshooting advanced issues
- Citrix – Candidates need extensive XenDesktop and XenApp experience. BRG uses both heavily. Clinicians have thin clients and only use Citrix for access. A large portion of their environment is VDI. They don't need someone that is on the end user side of Citrix (supporting problems with accessing applications or launching an app), they need someone that has experience setting up the servers and managing the Citrix farm. Candidates should have experience with actual Citrix infrastructure, upgrades, provisioning servers and maintainance. BRG is currently going through a Citrix upgrade, and candidates will need to be able to create new Citrix servers. BRG is upgrading from 7.15 to 19.12. Citrix farm is 300-400 VDI images, 30-40 Citrix servers with 150+ apps that run on those servers.
- VMWare – in there day to day but advanced portions are not something they will be doing. rebooting is about all they do. They have to go to the console screen in VMware. That’s the extent of day to day operations in VMWare. No heavy lifting. From time to time they will create a VM but that's not a normal day to day occurrence.
Pluses:
- Powershell (not a show stopper but exp is great, from time to time if they have to roll something out they’ll throw something together to automate it)
- Netscaler
- Paragon EMR or Epic or any other EMR and understanding the hierarchy
- VEEM for backups
- monitoring with Solarwinds
- cloud with Azure or AWS
- any experience working in a hospital with Epic
- automation with terraform or Ansible
Other skills:
- Storage – don’t need much experience here. Familiarity is great. Candidates should understand the difference between fiber channel and iSCSI.
- Sharepoint – falls under dev team. Don’t need experience with this at all
- O365 - if they are an O365 expert this is not the right role for them
