Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how commodity servers, operating systems, and networks function, perform, and scale. This role requires superb troubleshooting, project management, and problem analysis skills to drive technical innovation and efficiency in infrastructure operations.
ResponsibilitiesUnderstand how commodity servers, operating systems, and networks function, perform, and scale.Drive technical innovation and efficiency in infrastructure operations through automation.Design server monitoring and management solutions using automation and self-repair.Create processes that enhance operational workflow and provide positive customer impact.Dive deep to resolve problems at their root, identifying failure patterns amenable to long-term solutions via simplification and automation.Develop simple, repeatable solutions over complex, failure-prone ones.Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation, testing, security, operational support at scale, and efficient use of resources.Develop appropriate metrics to demonstrate performance at improving operational efficiency.Essential SkillsIn-depth knowledge of deploying and operating Linux or other UNIX variants in a datacenter environment.Strong system troubleshooting skills.Proficiency in automation through Perl programming and shell scripting.Good understanding of standard internet protocols such as Ethernet, ARP, IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, SSL, DNS, and HTTP.Demonstrable grasp of security best practices in server configuration, tool development, and access controls.Experience in building SQL queries.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of C, C++, or Java.Knowledge of version control systems like git, mercurial, or svn.Experience in deploying or managing servers in large-scale geographically diverse environments.Experience in managing and monitoring large-scale disk subsystems.Operational knowledge of common enterprise switching and routing platforms.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr.
