Job DescriptionNBCUniversal’s Intellectual Property Analytics, Operations, and Technology (IPAOT) team supports NBCUniversal’s content globally. The team builds applications to support our internal legal intellectual property partners as well as platform operations on YouTube, TikTok and Facebook. The applications help monitor NBCUniversal titles across search engines, data sharing networks and various content delivery pipelines. The data is collected by the team and analyzed internally to support business-decision driving initiatives at the company.
Role Purpose:
The IPAOT team at NBCUniversal is seeking a skilled and proactive Systems Administrator to ensure the optimal performance, reliability and security of our organization's Linux systems and environment. We are looking for a self-starter who possesses a strong technical background in managing diverse IT infrastructures, has a keen eye for detail and demonstrates a commitment to maintaining secure and highly available systems.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure and maintain over 200 bare-metal, virtualized and cloud-based servers running RHEL-based operating systems, as well as related network infrastructure critical to enterprise operationsMonitor and troubleshoot hardware and software issues as they arise using Ansible, Prometheus and Grafana to ensure secure and seamless operationsCustomize and maintain a multi-platform system configuration, ensuring efficiency and securityPerform regular backups and disaster recovery operations, escalating issues accordinglyManage user accounts and access permissionsKeep up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies and proactively share findings with the greater teamQualificationsBasic Qualifications:
3+ years of experience administering Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS)Bachelor’s degree in computer or information science is a plusProficiency in Bash scripting for automation and system tasksSolid hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and orchestrationIn-depth knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB administration, backup strategies and performance tuningSolid understanding of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, VPC) and best practices for cloud infrastructureAbility to troubleshoot performance issues, perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measuresExceptional written and verbal communication skillsDesired Characteristics:
Experience with system monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git/GitFlow) and CI/CD pipelinesExperience deploying and maintaining Docker containers in productionBasic knowledge of ELK (Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana) stack clustersFamiliarity with HashiCorp Vault for secure secrets management and access policiesHybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the Universal City, California office a minimum of three days per week.
