The Opportunity:
As the Systems Safety Engineer, you will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our Satellite Control Network (SCN) systems in accordance with MIL-STD-882E. You will be responsible for integrating safety into the system development lifecycle and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. You will contribute to the maintenance and evolution of vital system safety practices. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation in safety practices and systems engineering.




Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive System Safety Program in accordance with MIL-STD-882E
• Conduct hazard analyses, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and System Safety Assessment Reports (SSAR)
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with system hazards
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations throughout the system lifecycle
• Create and maintain detailed safety documentation, including hazard reports, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies
• Prepare and review System Safety Program Plans (SSPP) and other safety-related documents
• Provide support in systems engineering activities, including requirements analysis, system architecture design, and verification and validation
• Collaborate with systems engineers to ensure that safety requirements are integrated into system design and development
• Ensure compliance with customer safety requirements and regulatory standards
• Conduct training sessions on system safety practices and procedures for team members
• Promote a culture of safety within the organization
• Identify opportunities for improving safety processes and practices
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in system safety and systems engineering


Qualifications:

Required: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in system safety, with a strong understanding of MIL-STD-882E
• Experience in systems, test, or network engineering is required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in safety analysis tools and techniques
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team



Desired:

• Experience in a DoD or defense-related environment
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification
• Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification
• Experience with hazard tracking systems and safety management software
• Knowledge of environmental health and safety (EHS) practices

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$82,100-$172,400
