Job Description

Internal Job Title: System Administrator
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Job Location: Ottawa, ON
Work Model: Hybrid

 

Position Summary

As a System Administrator in our International Service Delivery group, you will be responsible for configuring, virtualizing, managing, and maintaining the IT infrastructure of CBN deployed solutions for our international government customers. In this position you will provide ongoing support and tune and optimize system performance to ensure they remain available, dependable, and secure.

 

Responsibilities

System Administration

Install, configure, virtualize, and maintain servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure components. Leverage automation tools to enhance outcomes.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning

Monitor system performance, identify issues, and optimize performance.

Security Management

Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and databases from unauthorized access and threats.

Backup and Recovery

Develop and implement backup and recovery plans to ensure data protection and availability.

Troubleshooting and Support

Provide technical support for system including troubleshooting and resolving problems.

Documentation

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system and network configurations, changes, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology (or a related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.Certifications: CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or similar certifications are assets.Knowledge: System administration principles, database management principles, network protocols, security best practices.Experience: 4-8 years of experience in system administration with database exposure.Soft Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent communication abilities, diligence, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Competencies: Organizational skills, adaptability, and an initiative-taking approach to identifying and solving issues.

Mandatory Requirements

Language: Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)Physical Activities: Ability to lift/carry up to 25lbs.Work Hours: Ability to work on-call rotation that includes overnight/weekendsTravel: Ability to travel domestically/internationally (passport required) approx. 2-6 weeks/year
