SVM - Assistant Professor of Pathobiology
St. George’s University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Pathobiology Department in the School of Veterinary Medicine, beginning 8/11/2025.
Objective:
Contribute to SVM research and enhance the knowledge, growth and overall development of the veterinary and graduate students through contribution to courses administered by the Department through the delivery of assigned lectures, engaging small groups, reviewing and contributing to course material, developing and reviewing exam questions.
Essential Functions
Instructional Activities:
+ Deliver lecture content in advanced molecular techniques course or other graduate courses
+ Deliver instruction in molecular biology techniques to graduate/veterinary students and faculty
+ Participate in the graduate and professional curriculum.
+ Participate in developing the syllabus outline by providing objectives and examination questions for each assigned lecture.
+ Assist in conducting and examination grading in compliance with the SVM Examination Policy.
Research and Scholarly Activities:
+ Actively engage in scholarly activities that support collaborative research at the SVM. Provide student research opportunities and training in molecular biology methods. Research areas of emphasis at SGUSVM include vector-borne disease, zoonotic disease and public health, aquatic animal health, parasitology, bacteriology/Mycology, pathology/clinical pathology, and clinical sciences.
+ Participate in graduate student/faculty education and mentoring
Service:
+ Perform diagnostic molecular biology testing support for tick-borne diseases and rabies testing
+ Participate in the following University activities as required:
+ Faculty Senate
+ Departmental Meetings
+ Departmental Faculty evaluations
+ SVM Faculty Meetings
+ Special Committee Assignments
+ Outreach efforts in the local community (i.e., One Health One Medicine program, CaribVet)
General:
+ Take responsibility as an advisor of assigned students.
+ Establish appropriate opportunities for interaction with students in addition to scheduled lectures. (Ten hours per week of faculty-student interaction are required of faculty not teaching in a laboratory and six office hours for those who have laboratory assignments
Minimum Qualifications:
+ PhD or DVM MSc
+ Documented experience in molecular biology techniques and molecular diagnostics, experience mentoring students in research, experience writing grants, and experience teaching
+ Documented experience in bioinformatics

Hours and Travel
+ A typical work week is 40 hours Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
+ Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the core work hours between 8 am – 5 pm on campus for in-person classroom/laboratory, diagnostics, and research, otherwise available by email or remote means for meetings.
+ Travel for medical/personal and professional meetings is granted by request and approval of the department chair and Dean

+ This is a full time position in the Caribbean island of Grenada.
