What We Want
The Sustainable Transportation Program Assistant, under general supervision, provides standard program support for the day-to-day operations of the Hub, an on-campus bicycle education and repair shop, with the goal of maximizing a positive customer experience. This position will assist with assigned programs within the Hub and will assist with all scheduled and walk-in appointments that pertain to bicycle maintenance education, the bike lease program, the borrow a bike program, and any future programs that are facilitated by the Hub. Additionally, this position with participate in a collaborative manner with the office of Sustainable Transportation regarding any of the current and future sustainable transportation initiatives.

Starting Pay: $20.86/hr

Qualifications
Required Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
+ Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of medium to high level bicycle maintenance and repair.
+ Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.
+ Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ League of American Bicyclist Certified Instructor (LCI) or able to successfully complete the LCI certification within 12 months of employment.
+ 1 year of experience working in the bicycle industry or field of sustainable transportation.
Responsibilities
+ Hub Initiatives- Primarily responsible for assisting in coordinating the day-to-day operation of the Hub facility. These duties include assisting with all scheduled and walk-in appointments that pertain to bicycle maintenance education, the bike lease program, the borrow-a-bike program, and any future programs facilitated by the Hub. These activities require the ability to ride, properly maintain, and repair a bicycle. Is responsible for identifying and recommending program improvements for the Hub. Assists in coordinating events to market, engage, and educate potential users of the facility. Creates, establishes and maintains program files, databases, correspondence and program materials. Assists in coordinating logistics for program events. Assists with meetings and program materials.
+ Sustainable Transportation Initiatives- Assists the Sustainable Transportation office with initiatives such as private and shared micromobility, bike counts, bike facilities improvements, car share, ride share, weekly and planned break intercity travel, pedestrian travel, demand response services, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and new services as developed. Serves a first point of contact for program information and coordinates responses to requests for program information regarding initiatives and services pertaining to the Sustainable Transportation office. Encourages the use of Sustainable Transportation to customers which includes the preparation of program correspondence.
+ Customer Assistance- Assist with coordinating daily operational procedures to ensure the best customer experience, including bicycle booting, impounding, returning, etc. Performance of these duties requires the use of a university vehicle to travel in restricted access areas in a timely manner.
Physical Requirements:
+ May be required to ride a bicycle while performing job duties.
+ Must be able to lift and/or move moderate to heavy weight objects.
Other Requirements and Factors:
+ May be required to work in all weather conditions. May be required to work overtime, weekends, occasional holidays, and occasional home football games pending departmental needs.
+ This position is security sensitive.
+ This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures.
+ All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements
